5 Darmasiswa Students of UAD Conduct Community Service Program at SD Muhammadiyah Prambanan
Located at SD Muhammadiyah Prambanan, in the welcoming ceremony, five Darmasiswa students (International students of UAD under Indonesian Government Scholarship Program) were warmly welcomed by headmaster, teachers and students of Sekolah Dasar Muhammadiyah Prambanan Yogyakarta. They did Community Service Program from 9th to 30th January 2016 in this school. They are Kim Soo Yoen and Kim Jong Jin (from South of Korea), Shakir Samadamaeng and Adam Makeng (fromThailand) and Li Lening (from China)
During their Community Service Program, they taught their own languages and cultures. All of the students were enthusiastically joined their class. Moreover, some of students interestingly followed them to the teachers’ room after the class finished.
Another delightful chance was Shakir Samadamaeng and Adam Makeng (Thailand Students) taught them how to cook traditional food and drink of Thailand.
“It was the first time for us especially students to taste international cuisine. The taste was quite strange, but it is okay enough”, said Dwi Listiyaningsing (Headmaster of SD Muhammadiyah Prambanan).
The time runs very fast, on 30th January 2016, students from 1st to 5th grade of SD Muhammadiyah Prambanan conducted food exhibition when representatives of International Office of UAD came to pick up the Darmasiswa Students. It was the last day of Community Service Program and also becoming judges for cooking competition was the last work for Darmasiswa Students.
Before leaving SD Muhammadiyah Prambanan, all students gathered and said farewell to Darmasiswa Students. Some of them cried, “Mr. Adam please come around anytime”, said one of them.
Dwi Listiyaningsing (Headmaster of SD Muhammadiyah Prambanan) said, “ We deeply appreciate this program. This program teaches our students to respect other cultures. Further, direct communication with foreigners leads their spirit to learn foreign languages”.
