The Food Technology Study Program has successfully organized The 2nd International Short Course “Asian Indigenous Functional Food”
The Food Technology Study Program, Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI), Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), officially launched The 2nd International Short Course (ISC) with the theme “Asian Indigenous Functional Food” on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Educators Hall, FKIP UAD. The program runs for three days, from August 11–21, 2025.
This international program offers a unique learning experience for both local and international students. In the first session, participants practiced making traditional fermented products (tape) and enjoyed a lively Cultural Night featuring games and artistic performances from each university.
The second session featured an industrial visit to PT Pia Juwara Satoe, where students observed the production process and took part in hands-on practice. They also visited the MSME Hola Gemilang in Magelang to learn how to peel salak fruit, process it into chips, and explore the salak plantation.
The third session brought participants closer to Javanese culture through visits to Beringharjo Market, Malioboro, Depok Beach, and Parangtritis Beach, introducing Yogyakarta’s signature tourism to international students.
The ISC is a collaborative effort between UAD, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Bandung. The program aims to introduce functional food from Indonesia and Malaysia, along with its applications, to international students.
The event’s chairperson, Ir. M. Mar’ie Sirajuddin, S.Pt., M.Sc., expressed his gratitude for the successful event. “Organizing a program like this is not easy, but seeing the enthusiasm of all participants makes it truly worthwhile. I hope this program provides new knowledge, builds connections, and becomes an unforgettable experience,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ir. Titisari Juwitaningtyas, S.T.P., M.Sc., Head of the Food Technology Study Program, emphasized the importance of this program as a commitment to expanding knowledge and strengthening collaboration. “We believe that learning knows no boundaries, and collaboration is the key to building a future based on knowledge and innovation,” she stated.
