Islamic Education Study Program of UAD Organized Visiting Professor in Collaboration with Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia
Yogyakarta – The Islamic Education Study Program (PAI) of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) held a Visiting Professor program on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, from 08.30 to 11.00 WIB, at the UAD Islamic Center Hall. This event is an implementation of the international collaboration between PAI UAD and Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM).
Dr. Mohd Erfino Johari, Director of Industrial Linkages and Academic Internationalization at UPTM Malaysia, attended as the keynote speaker. He delivered a public lecture titled “Educating for Adab and Patriotism in the Digital Era,” which was attended by all PAI UAD students.
In his presentation, Dr. Erfino emphasized the importance of instilling the values of adab in social media activities and the urgency of fostering patriotism within Islamic education, especially in today’s digital era that presents challenges to moral values. The discussion was lively and engaging, reflecting the students’ high interest in the topic.
Beyond its academic purpose, the event also marked the initial step toward research collaboration between PAI UAD lecturers and faculty members from Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia.
The Head of the PAI Study Program, Yazida Ichsan, M.Pd., stated in her remarks that this program is highly strategic for both institutions. “Through this forum, we hope to develop sustainable collaborative partnerships for the advancement of both institutions, especially in education and research,” she said.
This event serves as an important milestone in PAI UAD’s internationalization efforts toward becoming an excellent Islamic-based and globally oriented institution.
On the same day, 5 November 2025, the Islamic Education Study Program (PAI) of the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) at Universitas Ahmad Dahlan successfully held a Guest Lecture as part of the Visiting Professor program in collaboration with Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM). The event took place at the Islamic Center Hall.
The keynote speaker for this inspiring Guest Lecture was Dr. Mohd Erfino Johari from Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia. He presented material on the central theme “Educating Adab and Patriotism in the Digital Era.” The session explored in depth how values of adab, ethics, and patriotism can be nurtured and sustained amid the rapid changes of today’s digital world.
The lecture was attended by approximately 200 participants, consisting of all lecturers and students of the PAI Study Program, FAI UAD. The discussion was meaningful and highly interactive, highlighting challenges in Islamic education, character formation, and global citizenship. Dr. Mohd Erfino’s presence provided a unique opportunity for participants to learn directly from an experienced international scholar.
During the session, he discussed contemporary adab related to sight, hearing, and the heart—values that cultivate love and encourage individuals to nurture goodness within themselves. He also conveyed an important message: “We must prioritize respect in the learning process so that blessings follow us after graduation—not merely formality, but the knowledge and insights gained during our studies should remain with us.”
Overall, this Guest Lecture within the Visiting Professor program ran smoothly and successfully, generating a positive impact and strengthening academic collaboration between PAI FAI UAD and Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia. FAI expresses its gratitude for the active participation of all attendees and the contribution of the speaker.
