International Students of UAD Join a Parade to Celebrate the 68th Indonesian Independence
Saturday, 24th August 2013, some international students of UAD joined a Parade of Pembangunan to celebrate the 68th Indonesian Independence. The 7 students, coming from China, wore Javanese traditional clothes; the girls with Kebaya and Jarik, while the boys with Blankon, Lurik, and Kuda Lumping attribute. The 10 students, coming from South Thailand, wore Saman dancer costumes. The 17 international students started the parade from the office of Tourism Department of DIY, then walked along Malioboro street and finished at front of the King’s palace of Yogyakarta at alun-alun utara.
The parade itself was arranged by Tourism Department of DIY and joined by 39 communities/institutions with more than 500 participants. Thousands viewers along Malioboro street enthusiastically watched and took pictures of the parade. It was more splendid with the performance of drum band, marching band, dance, attraction, etc.
All international students of UAD, joining this parade, were very happy to have this new experience. Aji (Zhu Zhixin), a student from China, said that though it was quite tiring, but he was really excited and happy joining the parade.
