International Conference on “The Role of Government and Private Sector to Improve Maternal and Child Health”

Saturday, May 10, 2014, Faculty of Public Health UAD organized an International Conference on “The Role of Government and Private Sector to Improve Maternal and Child Health” at Campus 3 UAD. Officially opened by Rector UAD, Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum., this conference aimed to improve the knowledge and understanding of maternal and child health, increase understanding and knowledge of the government role and the private sector to improve maternal and child health globally, particularly in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
The invited speakers at the conference were Prof. dr. Ali Ghufron, M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Minister of Health, Republic of Indonesia, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeo Keejiar (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wongsa Laohasiriwong (Vice dean of Khon Kaen University, Thailand. There were about 250 participants consisting of lecturers, students, professionals, mid-wife, doctor and others, attended the conference.
Faculty of Islamic Studies UAD Holds An International Seminar on Living Phenomena of Arabic Language and Al-Qur’an

Officially opened by Rector of UAD, Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum, there were four invited speakers in this international seminar. They were Prof. Dr. H. Syihabuddin Qalyubi, Lc., M.Ag. (Professor of Arabic Stylistics, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta), Dustin C. Cowell (Professor of Arabic Language and Islamic Studies, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA), Dr. Phil. Sahiron Syamsuddin, M.A. Ph.D. (Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg, Germany), Dr. Mohammed Saad Alshaway (Associate Professor of Arabic Language Faculty, Al Imam Muhammad Ibn Sa’ud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia).
International Conference on Culture, Communication and Multimedia Technology 2014 (ICON C-COMET’14)
/in Event, News /by admin Tuesday April 29 – Thursday May 1, International Conference on Culture, Communication and Multimedia Technology 2014 (ICON C-COMET’14) was held at Central Building of School of Multimedia and Communication, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). This international conference was held in cooperation between UUM and UAD. Beside the lecturers and students of both universities, delegations of University of Saint Anthony, Philippines, and participants from Thailand also joined the conference. From UAD, there were 22 delegations consisting of 9 lecturers, 7 students of Informatics Engineering, 6 students of Information system, and 8 students of Communication Sciences Study Program.
After the opening ceremony, the conference and multimedia competition were held. The multimedia competition which was divided into two categories (Short Movie and TV Award) was participated by students of 4 countries. From 19 videos reviewed, the judges decided “Kampung Dolanan” by Muhammad Al Mahdi, a student of Informatics Engineering UAD as the Champion. The runner up was a video of a UUM student entitled “Salah Sangka” and the second runner up was “Tarian Topeng Klasik” by Riyanto, etc., from Information System UAD. For TV Award Category, the champion was from University of Saint Anthony, the runner up was from UUM, and the second runner up was from UAD.
UAD Initiates International Collaboration with Universities in Japan
/in Event, News /by adminApril 14-21, 2014, delegations of UAD visited some universities in Japan to initiate international collaboration. The delegations were Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum., Rector of UAD, Dr. Muchlas, M.T., Vice Rector I, Drs. Safar Nasir, M.Si., Vice Rector II, Ida Puspita, M.A.Res., Head of Office of International Affairs, Rosyidah, M.Ph., Dean of Public Health Faculty, Drs. Aris Thobirin, M.Si., Dean of Mathematics and Sciences Faculty, and Prof. Imam Robandi as the supervisor.
The universities visited were Tottori University (April 14), Tottori University of Environmental Studies (April 15), NAIST (Nara Institute of Science and Technology) (April 17), Osaka University (April 18), Doshisha University (April 21), and Shinjuku Japanese Institute (SNJ) (April 22).
Pradhika Nurul Huda, B.Econ., the First UAD Student who Graduated from Guangxi University for Nationalities (GXUN), China, with Joint Degree Program
/in Event, News /by adminHis name is Pradhika Nurul Huda. Born in Sleman, 4 Septmeber 1992, his friends usually call him Dhika. Dhika is a student of Accounting Study Program, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), who takes Joint Degree Program between UAD and GXUN. He studied at Economics and International Trade Department, Faculty of International Business, GXUN for two years from 2012 to 2014. During his study, Dhika actively involved in many activities like sport competition, internship in Chinese company, etc.
Before studying at GXUN, Dhika was a fourth semester student of UAD, and now after graduating from GXUN, he will continue his study at UAD for one semester. After graduating from UAD, Dhika plans to take Master Degree in International Business in 2015, also in China, and apply for Chinese Government Scholarship. “I thank God for this graduation. I hope what I have learned in China could be useful for me and UAD.” Said Dhika.
Again, UAD Delivers 16 Alumni to Teach at Some Schools in Thailand
/in Event, News /by adminMonday, April 28, 2014, Vice Rector III UAD, Dr. Abdul Fadlil, M.T., officially delivered 16 alumni who will teach at some schools in Thailand. The alumni come from Faculty of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Literature, Culture and Communication, and Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Beside the 16 new alumni, there are also 8 alumni starting their contract in May 2013, who continue their contract teaching. Therefore, there are 22 alumni in total.
The 22 alumni will teach at some schools which are Sangkhom Islam Wittaya School, Islam Suksasat School, Bannrodfai School Pattaya, Songserm Wittaya Munniti School, Songsermsasana Vitaya School, Ansor Al Sunnah School Pharkpayoon Foundation, dan Darul Uloom School, Satun. Beside the 7 schools, there are also Prateeptham Islamic Foundation School and Sakofah Wittayapat School Krabi which are requesting for UAD alumni to teach at their schools.
Thai Language Course and Soft Skills Training for UAD Alumni who will Teach in Thailand
/in Event, News /by adminSaturday, April 26, 2014, Bureau of Student and Alumni Affairs UAD held a sharing experience and soft skills training for 16 alumni who will teach in Thailand. During the sharing, there were four alumni who have experienced teaching in Thailand shared their story. They were Islahuddin who experienced teaching at Songserm Wittaya Munnitti School, Asma Kurnia at Islam Suksasat School, Dwi Puji Purwanti at Songsermsasana Vitaya School, and Fitri Nuryani at Sangkhom Islam Wittaya School.
After the sharing experience, there were two lecturers gave Soft skills training. The first was Ir. Budiyanto, M.T., head of Bureau of Student and Alumni Affairs UAD, who gave Motivation training. The second was Hendro Setyono, M.Sc. who gave Adaptation skill training. Beside the sharing and soft skill training, the alumni also got Thai language course for two weeks. The teachers were Thai students who study at UAD. All alumni were really happy to have all training because it can help them to survive when teaching in Thailand.
Kartini Day in China (A Story from UAD Lecturer at Guangxi University for Nationalities)
/in Event, News /by adminMonday, April 21, 2014, Tri Amalia Lestari, M.Pd., a lecturer of UAD who currently teaches Indonesian Language at Guangxi University for Nationalities (GXUN), China, together with her Chinese students at Faculty of International Education, celebrated Kartini Day. The celebration consisted of some activities such as Cerdas Cermat competition, Making Handicraft competition, Singing “Ibu Kita Kartini” song competition, and Indonesian Traditional Clothes Fashion Show competition.
At Cerdas Cermat competition, there were three groups, “Wonder Women”, “Power Girl”, and “Super Woman”. The questions were about Indonesian history including the history of an Indonesian heroin, Kartini. The juries were Sudaryanto, M.Pd., a lecturer of UAD who also currently teaches at GXUN and his wife Jauhratul Farida. Making Handicraft competition was really fun because the participants were male students and they needed to make flower from crept paper. At the end of the celebration, it was chosen a female student as “Miss Kartini 2014”. All students were really happy and enjoyed the celebration. Happy Kartini Day!
