Office of International Affairs, UAD held Road to Ph.D. and Go Around the World with Scholarship on Saturday (16/03/2019) in Ruang Sidang Utama UAD Campus I. The event presented I Made Andi Arsana, Ph.D. the awardee of various prestigious scholarships and the head of Office of International Affairs, UGM.  Ida Puspita, M.A.Res as the head of OIA UAD also presented as the moderator of the seminars. The participants of the seminars were from various institutions in Yogyakarta such as UAD, UGM, UNY, UIN, Universitas Amikom, Universitas Alma Alta and some were from institutions outside Yogyakarta such as Untidar Magelang, STT Muhmmadiyah Kebumen, UNS, and UMS.

Seminar took place in two sessions, the first session is Go Around The World with Scholarship. This session was intended for bachelor students or the public who wish to continue their study abroad. In this session, Bli Andi gave a lot of motivations to the participants to dare to dreams and make an action to make the dreams come true. Besides Motivations, Bli Andi also explained about the technical requirement and preparation to apply for the scholarship. The presentation drew the curiosity and the attention of the participants. In the question section, they were a lot of participants asked questions from motivational to technical matters.

The second session is Road to Ph.D. This session was intended for master students, lecturers or the public who wish to pursue their Ph.D. abroad. In the second section, Bli Andi also gave motivation and technical matters, but he went on further detail in this session. “ Ladies and Gentlemen, do you know Spiderman?, the story of Spiderman always repeated the same formula, but it still attracts a lot of moviegoers. The answer is the perspective, you should enhance your thesis proposal with different perspectives,” he explained. This session also ended with many questions from the participants.

 

UAD welcomed 10 USANT, Philippines and 5 Sea-Teacher students from Thailand and Philippines (23/1/2019). The exchange student program with USANT has been carried out since 2016. In this occassion, UAD also welcomed students from Sea-teacher program. The whole Sea-teacher has entered batch 7 but UAD just entered from batch 6.

The ten USANT students were Mary Paynago, Halowyn Borromeo, Maria Silva, Jessa Ponce, Zialecka Ibarreta, Jay Filio, Mayumi Marmol, Henrico Sernal, Mary Custodio, Aljona Labilles. The student came with Cristian Lamud as the faculty adviser. While from the Sea-teacher program UAD welcomed Chuthathip Yokrathok from Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University, Thailand, Sawitree Krainara and Maungrod Women from Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University, Thailand, Francia Mae S. Filipino from Ateneo de Naga University, Philippines, Shaira Mae V. Valdez from Tarlac Agricultural University, Philippines.

The welcoming ceremony was opened by a remark from the Vice Rector  IV Prof. Drs. Sarbiran, M.Ed., Ph.D, then continued with remarks from the dean of the Faculty of  Teacher Training and Education, Dr. Trikinasih Handayani, M.Si.. According to the head of Office of  International Affairs, Ida Puspita, M.A.Res, “UAD annually accepts students from the Sea-Teacher program and USANT as the educational and cultural understanding to prepare ASEAN economic community”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

UAD sent 8 students from Faculty of Teacher Training and Education for internship to Thailand and Philippines under the SEA-Teacher program. This was the second time UAD sent its students for internship abroad for one month. In the batch 6, UAD only sent 5 students, in batch 7  UAD sent 8 students.

The students came from several different study programs. English Education sent Hartini to Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, Thailand and Siti Aminah to Benguet State University, Philippines. Physical Education sent Neneng Triyunita to Capiz State University, Philippines, Dwi Ayu Lestari to Chiang Rai Rajabhat University and Fitri Kurnia Dewi to Benguet State University, Philippines. Primary Teacher Education sent Stima Anggita Putri to Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University, Thailand and Agtari Dwi Utami to Capiz State University, Philippines. Mathematics Education sent Riska Auliyah to Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University, Thailand. The eight students had been selected both from the internal UAD and from university hosts from Thailand and  Philippines. SEA-Teacher is a routine program involving Southeast Asian countries and facilitated by SEAMEO, which is an organization of education ministries in Southeast Asia.

The student had been given language training and technical matters related to the implementation of international internships from UAD. In addition, students were required to attend online orientation from SEA-Teacher. The training and orientation were expected to help students to adapt to the language, culture and education system of the destination country. According to the head of the Office of International Affairs, Ida Puspita, M.A.Res, “This program is very important because students will get international certificates that can be used as provisions to become Asean level teachers”.
