UAD Signed MoU with Bannrodfai School, Pattaya and Witthayapanya School, Bangkok, Thailand

Wednesday, October 15, 2014, UAD signed MoU with two schools from Thailand, Bannrodfai School, Pattaya, and Witthayapanya school, Bangkok. The first MoU was signed by Rector UAD, Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum., and Mrs. Nusara Sungo, Principal of Bannrodfai school, in the presence of Vice Rector IV UAD, Prof. Sarbiran, Ph.D., and Mr. Nipon Sungo, Vice Principal of Bannrodfai school. The second MoU was signed by Rector UAD and Mr. Yusuf Sungo, Executive Director of Witthayapanya school in the presence of Vice Rector IV.

Some points of cooperation agreed by three institutions are sending alumni of UAD to teach at schools, community engagement program, research, academic exchange, etc. Also coming together with the delegations from Thailand schools were two alumni of UAD, Siti Munawaroh, S.S., and Lucyanawati, S.S., who currently teach at Bannrodfai school.

Collaboration Activities Between Faculty of Economics UAD and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UnisZa), Terengganu, Malaysia

Monday-Tuesday, October 13-14, 2014, Faculty of Economics UAD and UnisZa, Malaysia, collaborated to conduct some activities such as academic discussion, seminar and cultural exchange night. The discussion was conducted on Monday, October 13 at campus I UAD.

The seminar was conducted on Tuesday, October 14 at LPP Hotel Yogyakarta. Themed on Challenges to establish ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2015, this seminar also involved Faculty of Economics Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Yogyakarta. On Tuesday Night, the three universities, UAD, UPN VY, and UnisZa, again, collaborated to held a Cultural Exchange Night which showed the cultural performances from two countries. The delegations from UnisZa were two lecturers, Dr. Mohd Shukri Jusoh, and Wan Zulqurnain Bin Wan Ismail, MBA., and 20 students.

International Seminar on “Well Being Among Vulnerable Groups”

Monday-Tuesday, October 13-14, 2014, Professional Psychology and Science Postgraduate Program and Faculty of Psychology UAD held an International Seminar on “Well Being Among Vulnerable Groups” at campus I UAD. Officially opened by Rector UAD, Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum., the keynote speakers were Prof. Dr. Adrian A. Kaptein from Leiden University Medical Center, Netherlands, Prof. Dr. Mandy Morgan from Massey University, New Zealand, Dr. Norbert Vajda from University of Pecs, Hungary, Dr. Nor Jana Saim from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia, Elly Nurhayati, Ph.D., from Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Indonesia.

The seminar was participated by 300 participants including 20 presenters coming from universities around Indonesia. They are practitioners, lecturers and students. The papers presented in the seminar will be published in the ISSNed Proceeding. Furthermore, selected papers will also be published in the Journal of Educational, Health, and Community Psychology (international journal by Professional Psychology and Science Postgraduate UAD), Humanitas Journal (Journal of Faculty of Psychology).

International Seminar on “Building the Image of Indonesia on the International Eyes through Indonesian Language and Literature”

Saturday-Sunday, October 11-12, 2014, Indonesian Language and Literature Education held an International Seminar on “Building the Image of Indonesia on the International Eyes through Indonesian Language and Literature” at @Hom Hotel. Officially opened by Rector of UAD, Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum., this seminar was also the 36th scientific meeting of Indonesian Language and Literature which is annually held.

Participated by 140 participants including the presenters from 26 universities, there were five keynote speakers in the plenary sessions. They were Prof. Dr. Suminto Sayuti (Yogyakarta State University), Prof. Dr. I Dewa Putu Wijana (Universitas Gadjah Mada), Prof. Yang Xiaoqiang (Guangxi University for Nationalities, China), Dr. Rina Ratih, M.Hum. (Universitas Ahmad Dahlan), and Chris Woodrich (Canada). Besides the keynote speakers, there were also Nicholas Jackson from Australia who sent and presented his paper in the parallel session.

Dr. Kasiyarno in his speech said that building the image of Indonesia through language and literature could be difficult but it doesn’t mean that it’s impossible. If we can use Indonesian language for language of science and technology, it can raise the image of Indonesian language and also Indonesia as a country.

Rector of UAD Welcomes Two Guest Lecturers from Europe in One Day

Wednesday, October 8, 2014, Rector of UAD welcomed two guest lecturers from two countries in Europe. The first one is Dr. Norbert Vajda, University of Pecs, Illyes Gyula Kar, Hungary, and the second was Prof. Adrian A. Kaptein from Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), Netherlands.

Dr. Norbert Vajda will be the guest lecturer at some study programs such as Early Childhood Teacher Education, Primary Teacher Education, Communication Sciences, and Psychology, While Prof. Kaptein will be the guest lecturer at Pharmacy Faculty, Psychology Faculty and Postgraduate Program. This is the first time for Dr. Vajda to be a guest lecturer at UAD but not for Prof. Kaptein who have already given lectures for UAD students for couple of times. Welcome to UAD and enjoy the exoticism of Jogja!

Signing Ceremony of Cooperative Agreement and Seminar on Health Care Policy, by Public Health Department of UAD and Health Care Education Department of University of Saint Anthony, Philippines

Tuesday, October 7, 2014, Public Health Department UAD in collaboration with Health Care Education Department of University of Saint Anthony, Philippines held a Signing Ceremony of Cooperative Agreement and a Seminar on Health Care Policy, at campus III UAD. The Cooperative agreement was signed by Dr. Cyril Romero from USANT and Rosyidah, M.PH. from UAD, while the seminar was attended by 250 participants consisting of practitioners, lecturers and students especially from UAD.

Faculty of Teacher Training and Education: Seminar on “Code of Ethics For Teachers: A Comparation Between Indonesia-Philippines”

Tuesday, October 7, 2014, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education UAD in collaboration with University of Saint Anthony (USANT), Philippines, held a seminar on “Code of Ethics For Teachers: A Comparison Between Indonesia-Philippines” at campus II UAD. Officially opened by Vice Rector IV UAD, Prof. Sarbiran, Ph.D., this seminar was attended by lecturers and students of UAD especially from Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Prof. Sarbiran, Ph.D., welcomed Dr. Dominggo R Ortega, Vice President For Academic Affairs USANT and Dr. Arlene O. Monsalve, Dean, College of Education USANT, who were also speakers of the seminar.

Dr. Sugito, M.Sc., a speaker from UAD explained some reasons why the implementation of code of ethics often meet many obstacles, while Dr. Arlene O. Monsalve explained some criteria of Professional Teachers: (1) Manage themselves well;(2) Are committed to the school and to a purpose, principle, or person outside themselves; (3) Build their competence and focus their efforts for maximum impact; (4) Are courageous, honest, and credible; and (5) Are persons of integrity, simplicity and humility.

Faculty of Economics UAD: Seminar on ASEAN Economic Community 2015

Tuesday, October 7, 2014, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, held a Seminar on ASEAN Economic Community 2015 at campus I UAD. The speakers were Dean Domingo Samson, Dean of Business School, University of Saint Anthony, Philippines, and Khusnul Hidayah, M.Si, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan. Officially opened by Vice Rector IV UAD, Prof. Sarbiran, Ph.D., this seminar was attended by lecturers and students from UAD and other universities such as Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran, STIE Widya Wiwaha, Universitas Widya Mataram.

After the seminar, Dean of Business School USANT and Dean of Faculty of Economics UAD, Dra. Salamatun Asakdiyah, M.Si., signed an MoU to strengthen the cooperation between two faculties. “These seminar and MoU signing activities were to improve the quality of Faculty of Economics and increase the cooperation network. Not to mention also to strengthen the cooperation between UAD and USANT” said Salamatun Asakdiyah.

Monday, October 6, 2014, Postgraduate Program Universitas Ahmad Dahlan collaborated with Graduate School, University of Saint Anthony (USANT), Philippines, to hold a Seminar on Educational Exchange at campus II UAD. The keynote speaker was Dr Domingo R. Ortega Jr., the Vice president for Academic affairs and Dean of Graduate school USANT. Other speakers were Dr. R.A. Noer Doddy Irmawati, M.Hum., Dra. Umi Rokhyati, M.Hum., Dr. Kardimin, M.Hum., Azwar Abbas, S.Pd., M.Hum., and Arum Priadi, M.Pd.BI., from UAD.

MOA Signing between Faculty of Industrial Technology UAD and UTM, Malaysia

October 1-2, 2014, a delegation of Faculty of Industrial Technology UAD, Andri Pranolo, S.Kom., M.Cs., visited Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia. The agenda of the visit were to discuss the preparation of international conference ICSITech 2015 and MoA signing between Faculty of Industrial Technology UAD and UTM. The delegation of UAD was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Siti Mariyam Shamsuddin, Dr. Shafaatunnur hasan, and Dr. Muhammad Shafie Abd Latiff. After this visit, Prof. Dr. Siti Mariyam Shamsuddin and other delegations of UTM will visit UAD on December 8-12, 2014.
