Darmasiswa Students of UAD Visit SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Depok, Yogyakarta
/724 Comments/in Event, International Office Activities, News /by adminDarmasiswa students looked very excited when they visited SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Depok, Yogyakarta. They were invited by that school on November 12, 2012. The teachers and students introduced them some extracurricular activities at the school. They are Robotic, Tapak Suci, creative music named Kitchen Musical, making Batik, etc. At that time Darmasiswa students of UAD 2012/2013 were not only introduced to the extracurricular programs but they also tried how to create robot, making Batik, create a creative music by using kitchen utensils, and martial arts Tapak Suci. In addition, they were also introduced to traditional foods from Sleman, such as tumpeng from nasi uduk, urap, fried tempe, boiled egg, sambel teri, some snacks such as klepon, tiwul, surabi, nagasari, and also some fruits such as matoa and snake fruit. They enjoyed all the foods, snacks, and fruits provided so much.
Ahmed Basuni, a Darmasiswa from Egypt, joined Tapak Suci. Rachel (a Darmasiswa student from New Castle), Cinta (a Darmasiswa student from India), Fatima (a Darmasiswa student from Thailand), and Susi (a Darmasiswa student from China) joined Batik painting. Raquel (a Darmasiswa student from Spain), Herojit (a Darmasiswa student from India), Viona (a Darmasiswa student from China), and Saena (darmasiswa student from Thailand) joined creative music with Kitchen Musical. They shared their experience and knowledge one each other.
Darmasiswa Students of UAD Trip to Solo
/in Event, International Office Activities, News /by adminFriday, November 16, 2012, Darmasiswa students of UAD had a trip to Solo. They are really excited to know the other cities of Indonesia, especially in Java region. In Solo, they had fun at Pandawa water park and visited PGS (Pusat Grosir Solo) where they can find various batik. They had fun playing at the water park such as in waving pool, racing slide and other water games. After that, they continue their trip to PGS, looked for batik and some handicrafts, and enjoyed some meals right there.
The National Conference on Communicable Disease Eradication Elimination and Public Health Strategy
/0 Comments/in Event, Feature, International Office Activities, News /by adminNasional Seminar Communicable Disease Eradication Elimination And Public Health Strategy, has been successfully held by faculty of Public Health UAD on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Saphir hotel Yogyakarta. There are 330 participants, such as students and health practitioners. The speakers of this one day national seminars are Prof. Hong Xia Zhou, MD, Ph.D who is an executive director of international affairs office and also a professor of epidemiology in Guangxi Medical University, Nanning China as first keynote speaker; Prof.dr. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, Sp.P(K), MARS, DTM&H, DTCE from direktorat PP dan PL Indonesian ministry of health as second keynote speaker; and Dr. Damar Tri Buwono, MS from Central Research and Development of Disease Vectors and Reservoir – Salatiga.
The seminar was begin at 8.00 and it wa opened by the rector of UAD, DRs. Kasiyarno, M.Hum. and finished at 16.00. On plenary session the first keynote speaker presents Communicable Disease Issue, Elimination and Eradication Program on Chinese, the second keynote speaker presents Communicable Disease Issue, Elimination and Eradication Program on Indonesia, and the third keynote speaker presents Vector Control in Communicable Disease-Research Based. On parallel session, Mrs. Zhou presents Application of technolgy in eradication communicable disease. The success of this seminar can be seen from the liveness participation of participants who ask enthusiasticly in discussion session which guided by Dr. Diah Perwitasari, Ph.D from Faculty of Public Health UAD. Besides, all participations are really spriritful join the session of research presentation which guided by DR. Ir. Widodo Hariyono, M.Kes from Faculty of Public Health UAD from the beginning until the end of this session. (E/I)
The succes of this national seminar must be because of the hard work of the team who prepare this seminar and also supports from the faculty and university of UAD. Besides, this also as the implementation of MOU between Faculty of Public Health UAD and Guangxi Medical University and Central Research and Development of Disease Vectors and Reservoir – Salatiga.
Darmasiswa’s Students of UAD, Closer to the Nature and Culture of Siung Beach in Gunung Kidul
/0 Comments/in Event, Feature, International Office Activities, News /by adminLast Saturday and Sunday (September 22-23, 2012) darmasiswa students of UAD 2012 joined Familiarity Night at Siung in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. That moment was used to familiarize all darmasiswa students who come from some different countries. Besides, to introduce them to the other culture, the beautiful nature, and also the culinary of Indonesia.
All darmasiswa students spent two days and one night at the beach where there was no any electricity and network at all. But all of them were enjoying every moment. They love the Indonesian foods which are provided, such as Pecel, Botok Manding, fried tempe, fried fish, grilled fish, red rice, Lotek, Tempe Bacem, Tahu Bacem, Ca Kangkung, Gudeng of Papaya Leaf, Sayur tempe, variety of Sambal, etc. Those delicious foods made Ullyses, a darmasiswa student from Belgia, wants to learn how to cook sayur tempe (his most favorit menu at that time). Besides, they really enjoy all the activities they had during Familiarity Night at the beach, such as go uphill to see sun set and sun rise as drinking ginger tea and eat boiled cassava, ropelling, rock climbing, playing traditional games (Gobag Sodor and Lompat Tali), barbecuing of cassava and corn arround the campfire, etc. They also enjoy the dinner they had at the beach with torchlight and traditional performance of Mocopat. “ This is excellent. I love the beach and I love the foods”, said Cinta (Indonesian name of darmasiswa student from India). And Raquel from Spain said that, “ It’s really great. I’m so happy and I hope we will have it again”. (E/I)
Darmasiswa Students’ Ahmad Dahlan University from China Performed Traditional Dance of Indonesia on Bulan Bung Karno 2012

This is done by Darmasiswa Students’ of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan. Mo Fangyu and seven others performed traditional dance from Badui “Kembaran Putra Badui” at 19June on Panggung Rakyat: Ke-Bhineka-an Tunggal Ika in the event of commemoration Bulan Bung Karno 2012 at Nol Kilometer, Yogyakarta.
Those Chinese students were really excited at that night. That’s proved not only from the dance they had prepared hardly with their dance instructor, Mrs. Ari, since the previous time, but also the preparation for that night they started from 18.00 (while they were performing at 21:30). Their appearance attracted the attention of all participants and spectators in attendance, including visitors milling around. They were interested to see how a foreign student from China danced traditional dance from Indonesian dance and they were more amazed to learn that the Chinese students can speak Bahasa Indonesian well.
Mrs. Ari as their dance instructor said that it’s really nice to train those Darmasiswa Students because they have a great spirit to learn, discipline, and even the boys were not shy to dance and they have a great willing to learn traditional dance of Indonesia. Aini (Indonesian name of one of Darmasiswa Students said that she was really glad to be in Yogyakarta because people in Yogyakarta are really friendly, nice, and they like to smile.
That evening was the second day of the programs Bulan Bung Karno 2012, not only enlivened by Darmasiswa Students’ of Ahmad Dahlan University, but also enlivened by traditional dance performances from various regions of Indonesia that are filled by thirteen Ikatan Pelajar dan Mahasiswa Daerah (IKPMD) Indonesia in Yogyakarta, such as East Nusa Tenggara, East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Central Java, West Java, Central Sulawesi, Papua, Aceh, Kepulauan Riau, South Sulawesi, Bali and Riau.

Twenty three foreign students of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan from China, Philippines, Thailand and Egypt went to Jakarta to attend Indonesian foreign students parting in Wisma Lampung, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. They went to Jakarta on Tuesday 19th April 2011 by plane. This event was held by Indonesian Ministry of Education (Departemen Pendidikan Indonesia) and attended by all of foreign students in Indonesian universities.
In opening ceremony, foreign students of UAD permformanced as the last performace. They performanced Jagad Bengkah theater, it’s meant broken earth. It told about the condition of Merapi mountain before and after Erupting six months ago. This theater also gave advice to keep our earth together. Foreign students (darmasiswa) of UAD got standing applause from all of the attendants. They appreciated moral advice in the story and also expectional performance.
The second day, all foreign students learned Indonesian culture like Batik Cirebon, carving statues, marriage ceremony and welcome dance from Lampung. In the evening, parting ceremony were attended by all of foreign students, staffs of International Office, ambassadors and Minister of Indonesian nasional education, Mohammad Nuh. In this ceremony was performed Bali dance, Aceh ‘saman’ dance, Topeng dance, etc.
The third day, Darmasiswa of UAD backed to Yogyakarta by bus. On the way to Yogyakarta, they stoped by In Bandung. In Bandung they enjoyed traditional food of Bandung such as Lalapan, sambal, sayur asem, etc. Besides that they bought presents like dodol garut,wayang, angklung, etc.
Study Tour to Central Java

Twenty foreign students (Darmasiswa) and five lecturers of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) took study tour to Father Beach and Jatijajar Cave in Kebumen, Central Java. This study tour was taken to improve students knowledge about tourism and educational objects in Indonesia. Traveling from Yogyakarta to Kebumen spent two hours. This time was full filled by singing Indonesian, China and English songs together, it made traveling was very interesting.
Study tour is one of ordinary events held by Office of Internasional Affairs (OIA) UAD for five to six times a year. In Jatijajar cave, students learned and took picture of historical statues and ponds. In Father beach, they were very enjoy traveled by beach mototcycle, horse and boat.
Besides that, foreign student tasted special food from Central Java like Javanese meat ball, mendoan tempe, kerupuk, etc.
“Mini Asia Town” Food Exhibition and Fashion Show Competition

The event was held at campus II UAD Jl.Pramuka, on 29-30 March 2011. On the First day, 29 March 2011 all participants presented all kinds of food from their countries (China, Thailand, Philippine, Wales, etc). Every Audience could try the taste of the Asian Food. Besides, Darmasiswa students show their skills to cook the Indonesian Food such as: Pecel Lele, Tumpeng, Nasi Kuning and Gado-Gado. On the 31 March 2011, There was a Fashion Show Asia Competition, the Participants came from UAD’s Students that use Asian Style. Finally, the Winner was Vina the participant wearing Korean Costume. OIA wishes that this events could be held every year for introducing the culture of the foreign students at UAD and make a friendship to Indonesian Students. We thanks for all participants making this program successful.
