UAD welcomed 60 international students. They come from numerous number of countries and under larger number of program. They are Darmasiswa students (Egypt, Tunis, Vietnam, Thailand and China), Joint Degree (2+2 and 3+1) students from Guangxi University for Nationalities, Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre (SBPAC), Muslim Education Development Association of Thailand (MEDAT), regular students, etc.
Located at Desa Wisata Dolan Deso Boro Kulonprogo, UAD under International Office conducted A Friendship Day for 60 new international students. They came in the last of August 2017 and they have been studying at some Departments such as English Education, English Letters, Arabic Language, Indonesian Language Education and Culture, Economics Development, Public Health, Mathematics, etc.
This year, International students of UAD come from numerous number of countries and under larger number of program. In this great time, international students got hands-on experience of Indonesian traditional games and culture.
Located at green hall Kampus 1 Universitas Ahmad Dahlan Yogyakarta, Dr. Kasiyarno M.Hum. (Rektor of UAD) and Ida Puspita, M.A.Res. (Director of International Office) officially opened the 7th International Day of UAD. Further, this amazing event was attended by Dr. Abdul Fadlil, M.T. (Vice Rector III), Prof. Sarbiran,Ph.D. (Vice Rector IV), and Faculty members.
There were two main agendas in this great opportunity, and all of them are free in charge!
The first is international food exhibition. This exhibition was started at 9am and finished at 12 am. There were 13 booths from 8 different countries. International students from some universities, many students of UAD, faculty members and staff of UAD eagerly came and tasted the served foods.
“This event is always marvelous, we hardly wait this event” said some visitors.
The second is “UAD Asing Star”. UAD Asing Star is a singing competition, the participants are international students from all of universities in Yogyakarta and Central Java. Some of them sang Indonesian songs and others sang English songs.
From food festival stage, about 500 visitors came to the international food festival of the 7th International Day.
They enthusiastically tasted international flavors , they moved from one booth to others in 13 booths.
In the closing ceremony, all of international students curiously waited the announcement of the food festival winners. The winners were chosen based on the numbers of the visitors in their booth.
The visitors chose team Thailand 2 UAD as the most favorite team, team China UAD as the best team work, team Thailand 1 UAD as the most creative team, and team Malaysia UAD as the best booth. Every year, team Thailand is always granted as one of the winners!
“Decoration of their booth attracts as to visit, taste their food and ask deeper about Thailand”, said some visitors.

From UAD Asing Start singing competition Stage. As all of the performances deeply touch the adjudicators’ hearth, the final round tightly run. Then, finally, the adjudicators decided that the first winner is Randrianary Bodeniraina (international student of UGM from Madagascar), the second winner is Le Phong Vinh (international student of UNY fron Vietnam), the third winner is Li Ji (international student of UAD from China), and the forth winner is Maia B. X. D. Baptista (international student of STTNAS from Timor Leste).
Further, the best participants are given to duet of Mus-ab Buenae Leetha Kaddah (international students of UAD from Thailand and Suraida Salaeh (international student of UGM from Thailand).
“It was quite hard to decide the winners, all of the participants did their best. Finally, we chose Randrianary Bodeniraina as the first winner because she sang from the deepest of her heart and softly touch our feeling.” Said Ida Puspita, M.A.Res. (The director of OIA UAD) as one of the adjudicators.

International students of UAD has long history of winning Indonesian Language and Culture National Competition
Located at Unversitas Negeri Solo, Nguyen Thi Thu Thao (a Darmasiswa student of UAD from Vietnam) won the most favorite participant in Indonesian Language Speech Competition in Indonesian Language for Students in International Level Competition. In This great chance, UAD under International Office Affairs sent two students to participate in, they are; Ali Abdulraoof Taha Al-Maktari, an international student from Yemen who has been studying in Chemical Engineering Program since September 2015 and Nguyen Thi Thu Thao (Tina, Indonesian name) is a Darmasiswa student who has been studying in Darmasiswa program since September 2016.
Ali delivered speech on “ Budaya Indonesia di Era Globalisasi: Sebagai Identitas atau Komoditas” and Tina delivered speech on “Bahasa Indonesia Dalam Ruang Publik dan Media Sosial”. Tina was granted as the most favorite participant after competing with 13 Indonesian students and four international students.
Besides that, a month ago, 21 October 2016 located at Universitas Indonesia, team Pembacaan Cerita (Story Telling) of International students of UAD was granted as the winner. the team was consisted of Guo Yaomin, Zheng Huangting, Qian Shan Yu, Tong Qiang and Ren Yu Jie (International students under U to U Program from China).
As widely known, one of the best program for international students in UAD is Indonesian Language and Culture, routinely UAD under International Office Affairs (OIA) sends international students to participate in national competition. Further, international students of UAD has along history of winning Indonesian Language and culture national competition. Tania won the second trophy for UAD this year.

Located at Nilai University Malaysia, 12nd-13rd November 2016, students of English Letters of UAD who have been studying at UiTM under The ASEAN International Mobility for Students (AIMS) scholarship program participated in dance competition in The 1st World Culture Festival 2016.
Anggi Nur Rachmasari, Indah Puspitawati and other international students performed Malaysian traditional dance, the dance consists of three different songs and the duration was ten minutes.
In this marvelous opportunity, they were granted as the first runner up and the best choreography. Congratulation!

UAD officially withdraws KKN International teams
Tuesday, 30th August 2016. Prof. Sarbiran, Ph.D. (Vice Rector IV) of UAD, delivered speech and officially withdrew all of the International Community Service Programs’ (KKN Internasional) teams. These teams had conducted KKN International in five of UAD’s partner schools in Thailand for a month. These teams consist of 38 who come from different study programs such as Physics Education, Biology Education, English Education, Mathematics Education, Biology Education, Biology International Program, and Mathematics International Program.
In Sangkhom Islam Wittaya School, Suksasat School, Songserm Sassana Vittaya School, Songserm Vittaya Munniti School and Wittayasan School, they conducted many programs such as teaching Indonesian and English, Indonesian culture, traditional handicrafts, etc. Moreover, while doing KKN International, students had opportunities to learn local culture.
International Community Service Program is one of yearly programs that is conducted between UAD and some partner schools in Thailand.
UAD sends seven students to participate in AIMS Program
Saturday, 13rd August 2016, located at Ruang Lab. Managements Kampus 1 UAD. Technical meeting conducted for seven students of UAD who get scholarship to study in two different universities in Malaysia under The ASEAN International Mobility for Students (AIMS) scholarship program.
They are Anggi Nur Rachmasari, Raka Dani Respati and Indah Puspitawati, students of English Letters who are scheduled to study at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).
Ikhda Rakmatina, M. Auzai, Amafa Agri Sativa and Abdul Rabbi are students of Arabic Language and Literature. They are planned to study in Universiti of Malaya. They are going to study for one semester in Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Universiti of Malaya
This meeting was officially opened by Ida Puspita, M.A.Res. (Director of International Office Affairs). After that, Dr. Abdul Fadlil,M.T. (Vice Rector III) officially delivered speech about the history and benefit of AIMS program. Further, Drs. Umarino,M.Hum. (Dean of Faculty of Letters, Culture and Communication), Ulaya Ahdiani S.S M.Hum. (Vice Dean of Faculty of Letters, Culture and Communication) Rika Astari, S.S. M.A. (Vice Dean of Faculty of Tarbiyah and Dirasat Islamiah), Abdul Mukhlis S.Ag. M.Ag. (Head of Arabic Language and Literature Study) and staff of Internastional Office Affairs are invited to share their experiences during conducting AIMS program in Faculty.
Moreover, Sharavina Delani and Semaun Al Usman (two alumnus of AIMS Program last year) were inivited to share their experience during study under AIMS program.
AIMS Program was established in 2009. It was named MIT, it is an abbreviation of Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. This scholarship program is provided for university students to do international exchange students in those three countries. In 2015, the name of this program was changed to The ASEAN International Mobility for Students (AIMS) scholarship program. At the same time, the country members of AIMS scholaship program was added. Filipina, Vietnam, and Brunei Darussalam are the new members from the ASEAN countries, and Japan and South Korea are new members from East Asia. In 2016, China is planned to join this program.
Universitas Ahmad Dahlan routinely send a number of students to participate in this program. The selection process is conducted in each study program. In Indonesia, only 12 higher educations were selected to be the member of AIMS, three of them are private universities and only two of them from Yogyakarta. Those UAD and UGM. The tight selection process shows that this program is very competitive and require high competency of both academics and skills.
Ida Puspita,M.A.Res. said, “ UAD always fully supports all of the students to get international experience during their study in UAD. One of them is AIMS programs. This program helps the students to bulid their mindset and expand their general knowledge to face ASEAN Economic Era”
27st of May 2016, Delegations of Muhammadiyah Higher Education were greeted by the Rector and with the Head of International Affairs of National Taipei University of Technology. There are 11 delegations joined in this group.
In this chance, delegations of Muhammadiyah Higher Education and National Taipei University of Technology, Taiwan agreed to cooparate in some major such as exchange undergraduate and post graduate students students under the Indonesian Government and the university scholarships.
Darmasiswa students consist of Liana Snytsar (Ukraine) and Kim Soo Yeon (South Korea) participated Hizbul Wathan Camp
Located at Prambanan Temple on 4th-6th April 2016, SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta held Hizbul Wathan Camp. This camp is an annual camp that aims to strengthen personal character and teach the students how to work in a team work.
Since two of Darmasiswa students consist of Liana Snytsar (Ukraine) and Kim Soo Yeon (South Korea) have been doing community service program in SMP Muhammadiyah 2, they were also invited to join this event.
In this even Liana, Soo, students and the teachers of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta did fun activities together. They played tradional games and learnt about organization, especially Muhammadiyah.
“All of the participants enjoyed this event very much, I saw them actively participated this event”, said Ruslinah (one of Darmasiswa lecturers who accompanied Liana and Soo).
She added, “For our Darmasiswa students, this event is very useful. This is one of hand-on experiences they can seize during their stay in Indonesia”.
Rendra Widyatama, S.IP,M.Si (The Head of Communication Study of UAD) Did Lecturer Exchange in USANT
Rendra Widyatama, S.IP,M.Si (The Head of Communication Study of UAD) has just finished Lecturer Exchange Program in University of Saint Anthony Philippines (USANT). He did lecturer exchange for about three weeks from 8th to 26th of March 2016. In this chance, he became one of keynote speakers in international seminar, delivered general lecture in Faculty of Liberal Art, since USANT only had radio program he also developed laboratory of Communication Program such as television and photography, prepared the-3rd ICON C Comet that will be held in USANT in 2017, took an English intensive classes, etc. Further, this chance evoke new further cooperation such as the second batch of international internship program in Communication Study Program of UAD, students exchange, joint research and joint publication. Those have been agreed to conduct it in 2017.
Rendra Widyatama, S.IP,M.Si said, “Other representatives and I were kindly welcomed by president of USANT. We discussed further cooperation of both sides. I wish this event will lead to the next great cooperation. Further, I wish this event will be routinely conducted and it will bring advantages for both sides especially education.”
He added, “I am happy indeed as part of this program, my knowledge is not only useful for myself and UAD students but also internationally. I also do appreciate USANT students’ interest in my classes, they actively responded what I have delivered.”
Rendra Widyatama, S.IP,M.Si. proposed to build an Islamic Center in USANT. This place will be the place for praying as well as halal food/drink corner in Iriga City. This proposal had been agreed by the president of USANT and was planned to build in the short time.
He added, “Since we routinely scheduled to send our students to do students exchange in USANT, we believe that this proposal will actively stand.”
