FLCC UAD Holds a Guest Lecture by the Speaker from UOW
Friday, April 19, 2013, Faculty of Literature, Culture, and Communication (FLCC) collaborated with English Education Study Program of UAD held a guest lecture at Auditorium Kampus 2 of UAD. That guest lecture was about Text and Context: A Post Colonial Equation which deliver by A/Prof. Tony Simoes da Silva from University of Wollongong (UOW). A/Prof. Tony Simoes da Silva is an Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies and FEC Chair, School of English Literatures and Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Wollongong, Australia. He came to UAD to be a guest lecturer for guest lecturing held by FLCC and English Education study program of UAD.
On that guest lecture, A/Prof. Tony Simoes da Silvaex explained postcolonial studies focusing on literary text and popular culture. Besides, he also explained how to teach it and how to criticize postcolonial literature. It was very interested discussion for all participants who were the students of FLCC and English Education study program. The guest lecture led by Drs. M.Arif Rikhman, Pg.Dipl, M.Hum (Can. Doctor) as moderator was very interesting for all participants. Dessy Kamila Sari, S.S, the alumnus of FLCC who was one of participants, said that this guest lecture really helped her to understand postcolonialism, postcolonial literature, and how to analyze it.
“I learn postcolonialsm on my first semester of post-graduate. But I don’t understand it and it lost my interest to postcolonialsm. But this guest lecture helps me to understand postcolonialism, postcolonial literature, and how to analyze it. It opens up my mind and enlarge my knowledge of postcolonialsm.”
At the end of this guest lecture, Tri Rina Budiwati, S.S.,M.Hum. (head department of English Letters Study Program) as the representative of FLCC, handed a compliment to A/Prof. Tony Simoes da Silva. (Eci)
