PBI UAD Student Wins 2nd Place at ASEAN Exhibition Universities Forum 2025
Qurrota A’yun (Tata), an English Language Education (PBI) student, represented Universitas Ahmad Dahlan in the ASEAN Student Mobility Programme and ASEAN Exhibition Universities Forum 2025, held in Malaysia from February 18 to 25, 2025. This event aimed to strengthen academic cooperation among countries and provide a platform for students to exchange insights and experiences.
Organized by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), the event gathered hundreds of students from various Asian countries. The delegates were assigned to different universities, including Malaya University, Asia Pacific University, Universiti Utara Malaysia, and the International Islamic University Malaysia, where they participated in Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and stayed in designated dormitories.
Over the course of seven days, Tata and other participants engaged in various activities, including seminars, exhibitions, and competitions such as the Young Speaker Contest and the Innovation Challenge. On the first day, the event commenced with opening remarks from ASEAN representatives and academic officials, followed by an introduction session and group discussions.
“I was very excited to discuss global issues such as environmental sustainability and digital transformation in education with other students,” said Tata. He also added that this experience was invaluable to him.
On the second day, Tata attended a seminar on Malaysian culture and participated in a campus tour. “The most exciting part was the exhibition hall, where different universities showcased their flagship projects. I was truly inspired by the innovations presented,” he explained.
During the event, Qurrota and his peers had the opportunity to present the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and take part in a cultural program at Universiti Utara Malaysia. Several competitions were also held, including the Young Speaker Contest, the Innovation Challenge, and the SDG Presentation. Tata and his team won second place in the SDG Presentation category.
“I hope this event helps expand academic networks and provides additional motivation to contribute further to the field of education,” said Qurrota. “This event is truly valuable in strengthening inter-university relations in the Asian region.”
With the conclusion of the ASEAN Exhibition Universities Forum 2025, Qurrota returned home with newfound knowledge and experiences. He hopes that more Universitas Ahmad Dahlan students will participate in similar events in the future, allowing them to continue expanding their academic networks and improving the quality of education in the ASEAN region.
