Students of UAD Joined Cultural Exchange at IFSU, Philippines
10 students and 5 lecturers of UAD went to Ifugao State University (IFSU), Philippines to join cultural exchange for 8 days form December 3rd to 12th, 2012. Those students are Ndaru Asmara, Putra Aji Aimujtahid, Sulastuni, Dwi Rina Nurcahyati, Vivi Ardiyanti Ledy, Mentari Cahya Nisa, Fajar Fitriani, Citra, Devinta Dwi Marviana, and Nur Khamudah from International Based Teacher Education (PGBI) study program of mathematics, physics, and biology. And the lecturers are Ulaya Ahdiani, S.S., M.Hum. (Vice Dean of Faculty of Letters), Drs.Ishafit, M.Si. (Dean of Faculty of Teacher and Training Education), Drs. Abdul Taram, M.Si. (Head of Department of Mathematics Education), Muh. Joko Susilo, M.Pd, and Irfan Yunianto, M.Sc. (lecturers of biology education study program).
Those students not only did cultural exchange in IFSU but they also did some other programs, such as present their mini research, tree planting, do some visits. On cultural exchange, those students teached students of IFSU some Indonesian culture, such as Saman dance (a traditional dance from Aceh), Angklung (a traditional music instrument from West Java), Cublak Cublak Suweng (traditional song from Central Java), and some indonesian traditional games. And students of IFSU teached UAD’s students their culture, such as their traditional song “Itetem” and their traditional dance “Ayangan”. Then they performed those all on clossing of this program. Besides, each study program presented their mini researches. Devinta and Nur Khamidah from biology education study program presented their research about Medicional Herbs for Poultry, Mentari and friends from physics study program presented their research about Free Fall Motion By Using Computer Programs, and Ndaru and friends from mathematics education study program presented their research about Forecasting by using Julian Calendar. Those students also did sit-in class for six different subjects which cover maths, physics, and biology field.For biology field, they sitted in agriculture class because the content of biology provided on that class. Beside the students, those lecturers of UAD also did a lecturer exchange right there which is an international target activity of UAD. That lecturer exchange is done by sharing the best practice with lecturers of IFSU.
All the students who join this program said that they get many things from this. Not only experiences, but also many other lessons that they want to share to the other students in UAD. They also glad to know how curious students of IFSU to get to know about Indonesia and they are very excited when they learned Indonesian culture. Those UAD’s student expect that they could join the other student exchange later. (eci)
