Indonesia International Student Summit 2013

Thursday-Sunday, November 14-17, 2013, three international students of UAD joined Indonesia International Student Summit (IISS) 2013. They students were Norcaisa Gohya Mudsol from Philipines, Meng Jiejun and Wei Meilian from China. They were accompanied by the International students Affairs UAD, Dessy Kamila Sari, S.S. Themed “The Role of Foreign Students in Introducing Indonesia to the International”, this event was held by Directorate of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture Indonesia cooperated with Universitas Padjajaran (Unpad) in Campus of Unpad Bandung.

During the event, the students gathered with other international students from other universities in Indonesia, attended some seminars and joined writing and debating competition, watching some cultural performances and visited some tourism objects in Bandung. While visiting the tourism objects, they played some traditional games from West Java. They also attended the launching of Indonesian International Students Association (IISA) website by the General Directorate of Higher Education continued by the technical explanation by the President of International Students. IISA was founded in 2012 and in this year international student summit, the new president was elected.

“We are very happy to have a chance joining this program. Even if we haven’t win the competition, but it was a very nice experience. I get motivated to improve my Indonesian language competence better.” Said Norcaisa.

Annual Gathering of International Students of Unggulan Scholarship

Sunday to Monday, October 6-7, 2013, three Mindanao students studying at Education Management Graduate Program of UAD attended the annual gathering of of international students of Unggulan Scholarship Program at Gumilang Regency Hotel, Bandung. The event was held by International Affairs Bureau Ministry of Education and Culture and hosted by UNIKOM Bandung. The participants were about 60 international students coming from USA, China, Japan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Mindanao, and other countries who study at graduate programs in Indonesian Universities with Unggulan Scholarship from Indonesian government.

Three students of UAD attending the event were Saada Omar, Jehani May Ader Macasawang, and Nurcaisa Gohya Mudsol. They were very excited attending the event and actively participated in discussion and asking questions. Dessy Kamila Sari, S.S. their guide lecturer, said that the matters delivered by the speakers during the event are really beneficial for international students in Indonesia, such as Indonesian culture, Intercultural Relation, and sharing about their scholarship and study. At the end of the event, the students were really happy to visit some tourism objects in Bandung and get an angklung (traditional musical instrument) as a souvenir.
