Saturday, September 15th 2012 darmasiswa students of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan attended Indonesian wedding ceremony with Javanese tradition. They dressed with batik and they enjoy every process if the wedding. Besides, they enjoyed the food right there. They are really excited. One of darmasiswa students, Raquel Cabello from Spain said that “I was so happy at the wedding. People who stand in front of the house remind me to the situation when the king comes and people stand on the right and on the left side of the way in to welcome him and shake his hand. I told my mom about it”. And she said “I’m lucky I could go to Indonesia.”
When the entered the wedding venue, they were welcomed by some people and accompanied with Gamelan sound. And then, they got a glass of tea and traditional snacks. While waiting the bride and groom come, the guests were entertained with Javanese songs sing by three Javanese singers. Darmasiswa students were enjoying that music. After enjoying all the wedding process, before leaving all darmasiswa enjoy the meals that already provided.
At that wedding, darmasiswa students also introduced to the values and meaning of the wedding processes they saw. Sometimes they curiously asked some questions, such as what groom used as the necklace, what’s the content of the speech that delivered, etc. Besides, they was explained with the different of this wedding tradition to the other Indonesian wedding tradition.
