UAD and 20 Indonesian Universities Promote Education in Songkhla, South Thailand
Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) became one of Indonesian universities that participated in promoting Indonesian education at Indonesian Higher Education Expo (IHEE), held at Prince of Songkhla University, Thailand from August 13 to 17, 2013. This education expo held by the International Affairs Bureau of Indonesian Directorate General of Higher Education was participated by 42 delegations from 21 universities in Indonesia. Afriana Ratna Puri as the coordinator of IHEE said that this annual program aims to promote Indonesian higher education abroad, especially people in USA, Europe, Middle East, and Asia. After Yordania and Malaysia, this year Songkhla became the location to held this program because it has a great chance and is potential to promote Indonesian high education there. It can be seen from the enthusiasm of Thai students to continue their study in Indonesia. And UAD as one of destination universities has 25 Thai students who study English, Bahasa Indonesia, Chemical Engineering, Psychology, etc.
In the middle of this program, the committee gave a time to delegations from Indonesia to present and discuss about the information of Indonesian higher education. This education expo activity hopefully would create people to people contact which means local people of Songkhla could directly visit each booth of universities in Indonesia and get a comprehensive information about study programs and other supporting informations. It is possible that the similar activities will be carried out in Songkhla or other locations in South Thailand if there is a greater opportunity. (I/E)
