2nd UAD TEFL International Conference Brings New Paradigms in Teaching English
More than a hundreds presenter presented their papers in 2nd UAD TEFL International Conference which is held on last October 13 – 14, 2012 by English Education Department of UAD. There are 200 participants who joined this conference consist of techers, lecturers, and teachers and there are five invited speakers, such as Dr. Dat Bao (Monash University, Australia), Eran Williams, M.A. (RELO, US Embassy), Prof. Irene A. Largo, M.A. (University of Nueva Caceres, Philippine), Prof .Dr. Bustami Subhan, M.S. (Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Indonesia), and Dr. Abdul Malik Mohammed Ismail (University Sains Malaysia, Malaysia).
This international English conference was held in two days. The first day, the conference was opened by gamelan performance played by Gending Bahana (UAD’s gamelan community) and also filled with plenary session by Dr. Dat Bao (The Teaching of Language through Interactive Cartoons) and Dr. Prof. Dr. Bustami Subhan, M.S. (Improving the Quality of TEFL at the Primary and Secondary School by Using Four Techniques), parallel session, and also enlived by the performance of UAD’s dance community. The second day was filled with plenary session by Irene Abardo-Largo, M.A (Communicative Language Teaching: A Rising Pedagogical Paradigm in the Philippine English Language Teaching), Eran Williams, M.A. (Teaching Writing), and Dr. Shaik Abdul Malik Mohamed Ismail.
The previous conference was held in national scale. And by the theme New Paradigms In Teaching English As Foreign Language, this 2nd UAD TEFL International Conference is expected that would bring new paradigms, methods, and technique of teaching English in Indonesia. (E/I).
