10 Students of UAD and 2 Lecturers of UAD Participated in International Camp
UAD sent two teams consist of 10 students and two lecturers to participate in International Culture Camp at Suranaree University of Technology, Thailand. The students are from five different faculties, those are two students of Economics Faculty, two students of Pharmacy Faculty, three students of Faculty of Industrial Technology, one student of Faculty of Letters, Culture and Communication and 2 Faculty of Psychology. Two lecturers are from Faculty of Industrial Technology and Faculty of Letters, Culture and Communication.
There are two main event were conducted in this event, those are The 3rd International ASEAN Culture Camp (ISAAN) and The 2nd International Martial Art and Culture Camp (Muay Thai). Both of UAD team actively participated in this event.
One team participated in The 3rd International ASEAN Culture Camp (ISAAN). They did some activities such as visited Pimai Hictorical Park, Taman Gantung and the place of Boxing athlete routinely practice. Further, they learnt Wai Kru Dance (This dance is an opening dance of Muay Thai. It aims to respect to the team and teachers), then followed by practicing 30 basic methods of Muay Thai. In the last of the event all of the participants were given a chance to show their best performance on the stage. As the representative of UAD, the students performed Engang (a traditional dance) and tapak suci (one of Indonesian martial arts).
The second team participated in Martial Art and Culture Camp. They did some activities such as learnt traditional dance namely ”Pha Khao Ma”, sewn traditional cloth, and had hand-on experience living with the local residents in Baan Taanprasart. In this traditional vilage, they learnt how to make traditional food and hand-made souvenir. In the next days, they did volunteer activities such as cleaning worship places. Further, they played traditional games such as ular tangga, engrang, etc.
Ida Puspita, M.A.Res. (The Director of International Office of UAD) said, “ Participating in those events is one of the ways to realize MoU between UAD and SUT. In 2015, SUT and UAD did an exchange student program on art and culture in UAD. This visit is an reciprocal visit from UAD”.
