The European Union of Erasmus+ BUiLD Team Visited Ahmad Dahlan Disaster Management Center UAD
Monday 22nd August 2022, located at Ahmad Dahlan Disaster Management Center of Faculty of Medicine Campus 4, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan welcomed three delegations from Erasmus+ Building Universities in Leading Disaster Resilience (BUiLD). Nadine Sulkowski (Coordinator of BUiLD Project from University of Gloucestershire, UK), Prof. Neil Towers (University of Gloucestershire, UK), and Paul Schober (Hafelakar Austria). This visit aims to monitor and evaluate the progress of the BUiLD project at UAD and other granted institutions in Indonesia.
The BUiLD project is the second of four Erasmus+ projects granted to UAD since 2017. This project was initiated and coordinated by International Office Affairs coordinated with study programs, institutions, and faculties. This grant aims to build the university’s capacity in disaster management and become a disaster-resilient campus.
The benefit of this program is the Center of Excellence in Disaster Resilience with complete instruments including Virtual Reality to support disaster education at UAD. At UAD this center is named Ahmad Dahlan Disaster Management Center (ADMC). ADMC is the core of managing and developing all activities related to disasters such as mitigation, response, post-disaster intervention, and so forth in the field of education, research, and community service. Furthermore, it strengthens collaboration between UAD with stakeholders such as MDMC, Lazismu, BNPB, BDBP, etc.

UAD is very grateful that for five years in a row continuously gain international trust with the passing of four Erasmus+ grant proposals including the BUiLD disaster management project. There are many benefits obtained by UAD with this BUiLD grant, and one of them is the potential international cooperation and national cooperation related to disasters and other relevant fields that can continue to strengthen the capacity of the Ahmad Dahlan Disaster Management Center in the future.
