UAD Signed MoU with Clayton North Primary School, Australia and Perhimpunan Indonesia Belajar
March 14-20, 2015, delegations of UAD and Principal of Condong Catur Primary School Yogyakarta (as the representative of teachers in Yogyakarta), visited Melbourne to exchange good practices in Education with Clayton North Primary School (CNPS). The first agenda was MoU signing among UAD, CNPS, and Perhimpunan Indonesia Belajar (PIB) as the organization that motors this program, on March 17.
“As one an Institute of Teacher Training and Education in Indonesia, UAD always improves the competency of lecturers and students who are also candidate of teachers. The cooperation among UAD, CNPS, and PIB is one of ways to do that especially for lecturers and students at Early Childhood Education and Primary Teacher Education Study Program of UAD.” Said Dr. Kasiyarno, Rector of UAD.
September 2014, UAD has ever invited two teachers of Clayton North Primary School to be speakers in a Teacher workshop on ”Building Children’s Positive Character through Enjoyable, Healthy and Children-Friendly School” (Learning from Schools in Australia). The visit to Melbourne is follow up of the workshop. For one week, the representative of teachers and also lecturers of UAD sat-in the class to directly observe the instruction in Clayton North such as how Australian schools design the student-centered instruction, how to improve literacy culture, how to deal with students and character building.
For the next cooperative activity, UAD plans to invite Guidance and Counseling teacher of CNPS to give workshop on how to deal with “naughty” children for lecturers and teachers of UAD lab schools in Yogyakarta. In the future, UAD also wants to build its own schools from early childhood education to senior high school. UAD hopes to build such enjoyable, healthy and children-friendly schools that can build the children character.
