OIA of UAD Welcomes Their New Foreign Students Year 2012-2013
A welcoming ceremony toned up the auditorium of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan on Jl. Kapas no. 9 Semaki, Yogyakarta. The welcoming ceremony on last Saturday night (9/29) was held to welcome the foreign students of UAD year 2012-2013. There are 76 foreign students who coming this year. They are come frome China, Thailand, India, Malaysia, England, Spain, Belgium, and Egypt. They join some study programs in UAD, such as Bussiness Economics, Indonesian Letters, English Letters, Arabic Language and Literature, Darmasiswa, English Education, BIPA, MIT, Psychology, and Engineering. With all those students, there are more than hundred foreign students who has been studied at UAD. Some other students who has been studies at UAD are come from Netherland, Korea, Timor Leste, Japan, Poland, Philipine, etc.
The welcoming ceremony was opened by the beautiful sound of Gamelan by Gending Bahana. Then, continued with the performance of darmasiswa’s students who sang Indonesia Raya, the Indonesian national anthem. The speech was delivered by rector of UAD, the chief committee by Intan Rawit Sapanti, S.Pd., and the representative of foreign student by Cheng Cheng. The main agenda was marked with putting UAD’s coat on some representatives of foreign students from each study programs which was done by rector of UAD, Drs. Kasiyarno, M.Hum. In addition, that welcoming ceremony was also enlivened by other performances, such as Ngarojeng dance by dance community of UAD, Muhasabah Cinta by Mus-ab (foreign student from thailand), Ai Yao Tan Dang Dang, by Ni Peishi (darmasiswa’s student from china,) Guang Hui Sui Yue by Chen Qingjun (darmasiswa’s student from china), Lian Ai ING by Ni Peishi and Chen Qingjun, Gamelan musics by Gending Bahana, Aankhen Khuli Ho Yaan Ho Band by Herojit Moirangthem (darmasiswa students from India), and classical violin by Raquel Cabello (darmasiswa’s student from Spain) who played the compossition of Vivaldi, The Four Season and Duke Ellington, In a Sentimental Mood.
That ceremony was not only attended by the foreign students. It is also attended by the deans, lecturers, head of faculties, head of study programs, representaive of MIT program, and representative of Chinese people in Yogyakarta. Besides, there was a special thing in this welcoming ceremony where all the committees were wearing various Indonesian traditional clothes from some difference areas in Indonesia, such as from Lampung, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, Jakarta, Bali, Yogyakarta, etc. By that, the committees would like to introduce the beautiful of Indonesia through its traditional clothes to foreign students.
