UAD Welcomed 3 Students from USLS Philippines for SEA Teacher Batch 10 Program
The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) warmly welcomed three inbound students from the University of St. La Salle (USLS), Philippines, as part of the SEA Teacher Batch 10 program. The three students, Queen Joy Alova, Melbour Base, and Kristina Elevado, were officially received on Monday (20/1) at the Educators Hall, FKIP Main Campus, UAD.
Dr. Ani Susanti, M.Pd.BI., Vice Dean of FKIP UAD, explained that FKIP provides a special facility in the form of buddies, UAD students assigned to assist the inbound students throughout the program. “We have assigned five buddies. In addition to providing technical assistance, they will also accompany the students in classes, help with teaching, and prepare various necessities during the program,” Ani explained during her speech.
In this batch, UAD welcomed a total of 21 students from six universities in the Philippines. They will participate in a one-month teaching practicum at partner schools, including ABA Kindergarten Nitikan, Muhammadiyah Elementary School Nitikan, Muhammadiyah Junior High School 2 Yogyakarta, Muhammadiyah Senior High School 2 Yogyakarta, and State Vocational High School 6 Yogyakarta.
Aan Hendroanto, M.Sc., Coordinator of SEA Teacher Batch 10, expressed his hope that the program would bring significant benefits to students and partner schools. “We also hope this program will bring great benefit to our students and also to our partner school and partner university, especially for the outbound and inbound students,” said Aan.
As an academic support initiative, UAD Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ir. Sunardi, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., stated that buddies would receive recognition in the **Field Introduction Program (PPL)** course. “Buddies assigned to accompany foreign students will be given PPL recognition. I fully support this to ensure they receive proper credit for their contributions,” Sunardi said.
Melbour Base, one of the inbound students, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from UAD. He also shared his excitement about learning and exploring Indonesian culture, particularly in Yogyakarta. “I am very thrilled to be here in Indonesia, especially here in Yogyakarta, and of course to be partnered with Universitas Ahmad Dahlan. Indonesia is a very rich country, born in culture, history, and diversity. I am looking forward to immersing ourselves in that culture, and to go back to the Philippines and develop like Indonesia,” said the student fondly known as Eboy.
With the enthusiasm and support provided, the SEA Teacher Batch 10 program is expected to strengthen international relations while offering valuable experiences for all parties involved.
