The 2nd International Day “Culinary and Costume Fest-Culture in Harmony” 2011
Bearing the theme “Culture in Harmony”, the Office of International Affairs once again proudly presented The 2nd International Day “Culinary and Costume Festival”. The event, held annually by Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, took place at the Green Hall , Campus III of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan.
The festival was marked with a number of interesting events such as culinary festival, fashion show and International costume festival. The culinary festival boasted as many as 11 culinary stands from six different countries: China, Korea, Japan,Polandia, Malaysia and Timor Leste. Each stand was adorned with the country’s specialty dishes such as Okonomiyski and sushi from Japan, Tom Yang Kung and Pad Thai from Thailand, Nasi Lemak from Malaysia, as well as Peking Duck and Chinese dumpling from china. The festival successfully attracted a large number of visitors, mostly students. They had a chance to taste different kinds of dishes offered free of charge by each participating country.
The Fashion Show and International Costume Festival was equally successful with as many as forty participants taking part in the coustme festival. They featured some glamorous and attractive costumes. Five Darmasiswa students; Kwon Gamin (Korea), Waka Murano (Japan), Tang Lisi (China), Elizabeth Palka (Polandia), and Zhong Xin (China) joined the fashion show and displayed some beautiful clothes from several famous designers in Jogja after being given a one-week training by H.Adi Karang-a designer and talent search- of Adana Modelling School. There were 4 designers who took part in the fashion show, Sugeng Waskito (Gee Batik), Yulvita Paramita Dewi (Janitra )Adam Hamimie (Javasionist), and Klambi Telazoo by Sumita.
Intan Rawit Sapanti, S.Pd, the convener of the program hoped that the Festival would enhance the spirit of cultural exchange among International students and local students of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan and wished for a much better and more successful International Day to come.
