UAD and SaranMU Hong Kong Establish Cooperation for Migrant Worker Empowerment
Yogyakarta, March 18, 2025 – Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), through its Office of Cooperation and International Affairs (KKUI UAD), welcomed a visit from Sahabat Migran Berkemajuan (SaranMU) Hong Kong, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting Indonesian migrant workers. Established under the Muhammadiyah Community Empowerment Council, SaranMU Hong Kong focuses on improving the well-being, healthcare, spiritual welfare, and legal assistance for Indonesian Migrant Workers (TKI) in Hong Kong.
The meeting, held in the Smartroom at UAD Campus 1, was attended by the Vice Rector for Human Resources, Dr. Norma Sari, S.H., M.Hum., the Head of KKUI UAD, Ulaya Ahdiani, S.S., M.Hum., and the Head of International Partnership Division, Afit Istiandaru, S.Pd., M.Pd. Meanwhile, SaranMU was represented by Sri Nasiadi Umanah.
As a result of the meeting, UAD and SaranMU Hong Kong signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking their commitment to working together for the empowerment of Indonesian migrant workers. Through international community service programs, this collaboration is expected to bring tangible benefits to migrant workers, including welfare support, healthcare services, spiritual well-being, and legal assistance.
This collaboration highlights UAD’s active role in addressing global social issues while strengthening the connection between academia and the migrant worker community in pursuit of better well-being.
