UAD Scales up its Global Movement Through International Collaboration at the Asian Alliance University Platform
Semarang, February 4, 2025 – Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) is further strengthening its position in international education by signing a Letter of Intent (LoI) and an Agreement (IA) at the prestigious “Signing International Collaboration & Discussion Asian Alliance University (AAU) Platform” event. Held at the Auditorium of Unimus Hospital, Semarang, this event marks a significant moment for UAD in expanding its academic network on a global scale.
As an institution committed to the internationalization of education, UAD continues to initiate various strategic collaborations with renowned universities across Asia. One of its key partners in this collaboration is Dongseo University, Korea. Through this agreement, UAD opens broader opportunities for student exchange programs, joint research, and the development of a credit transfer system between universities.
The Head of UAD’s Foreign Cooperation Division, Afit Istiandaru, S.Pd., M.Pd., represented the university and joined a delegation of representatives from 71 other higher education institutions, including Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Universities (PTMA), the Association of International Affairs Offices (ASKUI), the Association of Indonesian Private Universities (APTISI), and state universities (PTN) in Indonesia. UAD’s participation in this forum underscores its active role in building global academic networks.
Dongseo University President, Prof. Dr. Kenneth Hahn, and Director of the International Exchange Center at Dongseo University, Mr. Leo Choi, were also present, highlighting the importance of cross-country collaboration in addressing modern educational challenges. Meanwhile, Unimus Rector, Prof. Dr. Masrukhi, in his speech, emphasized that this initiative is a concrete step toward strengthening the internationalization of education in Asia.
“This event binds us in a commitment to closer collaboration. Through the Asian Alliance University Platform initiated by Dongseo University, we will collaborate on key programs such as academic exchanges, seminars, workshops, and scholarship development,” said Prof. Masrukhi.
Unimus Vice Rector IV, M. Yusuf, Ph.D., elaborated on the credit transfer system concept introduced by Dongseo University during the Asian Alliance University President Forum in Korea in 2024. This concept offers students greater flexibility in accessing quality education at various member universities.
Beyond this, PTMA is also designing an online training program aimed at strengthening academic cooperation, enabling Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah universities to offer internationally recognized courses. This initiative broadens access for students across Asia to gain high-quality academic experiences.
With the signing of the LoI and IA, UAD further solidifies its presence as an active university in the global education arena. This agreement not only expands its academic network but also provides students and lecturers with richer international experiences. Through this collaboration, UAD continues to contribute to strengthening Indonesia’s position in global education and preparing outstanding graduates ready to compete in the era of globalization.
