UAD Welcomes Inbound SEA Teacher Students from the Philippines Once Again
Monday, January 20, 2025, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) officially launched the 10th Batch of the SEA Teacher Program, a Southeast Asian student exchange initiative focusing on cross-country teaching practice. This year, 21 students from six universities in the Philippines are participating, including West Visayas State University, University of St. La Salle, Capiz State University, Central Luzon State University, and Adamson University.
The first group of students began arriving gradually in January 2025. On Saturday (April 12), two students from Adamson University, Nikita Seregin and Jersey Spencer/Okabe, officially began their program at UAD. They were warmly welcomed during a reception ceremony held at the Educators Hall, UAD Main Campus, accompanied by their faculty advisor, Professor Lorallie Canapee.
In her welcome speech, the Vice Dean of FKIP UAD, Dr. Ani Susanti, M.Pd.BI., stated that this program is not only about teaching practice but also about cultural exchange and meaningful teaching experiences. To ensure the smooth implementation of the program, FKIP has appointed three UAD students as buddies to accompany Nikita and Jersey throughout the one-month program.
Over the next month, Nikita and Jersey will carry out their teaching practicum at SMK Negeri 6 Yogyakarta, one of UAD’s partner schools.
The SEA Teacher Program serves as a tangible form of UAD’s commitment to supporting international educational collaboration, while also providing a platform for cultural exchange and cross-border experiences.
