International Students of UAD Join Community Programs in Muhammadiyah Elementary School and Muhammadiyah Junior High School Gantiwarno, Klaten

A total of 11 UAD foreign students take part in community programs at Muhammadiyah Elementary School and Muhammadiyah Junior High School Gantiwarno , Klaten, Central Java (1/13). This activity is the seventh time held by UAD and the second time in Klaten. This activity is an annual activity of UAD for the Darmasiswa program. The eleven international students are MD Arfan Rashed from Bangladesh, Rasoanirina Bernadine Brigivane from Madagascar, Ahmed AO Shbair from Palestine, Chen Yan from China, Dora Kiss from Hungary, Hathsady Sisouphanh from Laos, Ianthe Meskens from Belgium, Nguyen Thi Cam Quyen and Nguyen Thi Thuy An from Vietnam, Sabaree Kalamor and Nuree Dueramae from Thailand.

The International students will stay for three weeks in Baturan and Mutihan Village, Gantiwarno, Klaten, Central Java. This event was welcomed by Dwiyanto, S.Pd. who is the Regional Coordinator of Education in Gantiwarno and the principal of Muhammadiyah Elementary School Gantiwarno, Muh. Wahyunto, S.Pd. as well as the Principal of Muhammadiyah Junior High School Gantiwarno, Sidiq Triyono, S.Ag. According to the Regional Coordinator for Educationwarwarno, Dwiyanto, S.Pd. “This community program activity has many positive impacts, one of which is to strengthen the friendship between countries and international students can explore the depth of Indonesian culture”. International students will teach in both schools about the culture and language of their respective countries and subjects available in the school.

The community program opening ceremony took place at Muhammadiyah Elementary School Gantiwarno and attended by Regional Coordinator of Education in Gantiwarno, Supervisor of elementary school in Gantiwarno, Gantiwarno District Police Station , The head of the Muhammadiyah Elementary Education Board and the Muhammadiyah branch association. According to the head of the Office of International Affairs, Ida Puspita, M.A Res, “This community program is one of the best programs of UAD Darmasiswa because students can experience life like Indonesians and provide benefits to residents around where students conduct community programs”.

Bali International Youth Friendship Camp 2020

Bali International Youth Friendship Camp by AYFN is an experiential learning program designed for young people aged 15 to 35 years. It’s a beautiful journey of self-discovery where you deep diving into yourself with amazing people around the world. 3 Delegations of UAD Joined The World Universities Debating Championship

Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) sent 3 delegations to the World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC) or world-level English debate competition in Bangkok from 7 December 2019 to 4 January 2020. The competition was attended by 430 teams from 50 countries.

The three delegations were Ika Suciwati (English Language Education), Annisa Rizki Nola Nur Sagi (English Literature), and Rifki Wuda Sudirman (English Literature). “Both of them, Annisa and Ika were as the debate team, and the other one, Rifki as adjudicator or jury “, Ika Suciwati said, reporting from Bangkok. Thursday (2/1) Evening.

Ika Suciwati said, after going through 9 preliminary rounds, they did not qualify for the semifinal round but UAD debating team won a total of 9 winning points, which was a pretty high point with maximum hard works. While Rifki, managed to become an expert jury or a panelist for 9 full rounds without ever being lowered to the lowest level as a trainee. The team was accompanied by Nur Rifai Akhsan MEd, UAD lecturer as an expert observer from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. Ika Suciwati added, there were 20 teams from Indonesia who took part in this year’s WUDC event. “During these 5 days it was not recommended to wear university attributes to avoid partiality to certain institutions,” She said. Danang Sukantar MPd, Head of Student Development of Bureau of Student Affairs and Alumni (Bimawa) UAD said that. “This team always has the spirit and focus of every moment at the national and international level,” He said. UAD Sent Five Students to UiTM under ASEAN Plus Three Scholarship Program

UAD sent five students from English Literature Department to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. They are Andini Mandala Putri, Arizka Ummarina, Fadia Nurhasanah, Jasmina Zahra, and Melya Putri Astari. They studied at UiTM for one semester from September 2019 to January 2020 under ASEAN+3 and Europe scholarship program.

This program is supported by Indonesian Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education. Its Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs held a credit transfer program as part of an effort to develop student competencies and insights gained through student mobility schemes with several partner countries such as ASEAN, Japan, South Korea, Europe, and USA. This Credit Transfer Program is a recognition process of the credits of study and learning outcomes that have been obtained by a student while studying in a partner university. In addition, through this credit transfer program, home university in Indonesia could learn the various of credit transfer systems, such as European credit transfer systems, ASEAN credit transfer systems, and UMAP credit transfer systems. Then they could apply and develop the systems according to their needs and the regulations of higher education in Indonesia.

Through this program the students learned several subjects, such as Persuasion and Negotiation, Professional Communication, Advanced Reading, Cross Cultural Interaction, dan Advanced Grammar.

FEB Held A Public Lecture By Presenting Prof. Neil Towers from the University of Gloucstershire

Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UAD, held a public lecture by presenting Prof. Neil Towers from the University of Gloucstershire, UK (12/12/2019). The activity which took the theme “Entrepreneur in Digital Era” was carried out in the Main Meeting Room of Campus 1 of UAD and participated by a number of students and lecturers from the Management Study Program.

On this occasion, Prof. Neil Towers, who is also the head of the “Growing Indonesia A Triangular Approach” (GITA) project, shared some of the challenges of entrepreneurs in this digital age and how to take opportunities and continue to innovate so as not to lag behind existing competitors.

Prof. Neil also did not forget to remind participants to improve their ability to master the latest technology, so that we can also adapt to the environment and times, and always learn from experience. This activity was held in collaboration between the Faculty of Economics and Business and Office of International Affairs of UAD. (i)

Chemical Engineering Of UAD Yogyakarta Holds Research Collaboration with Foreign Universities

Chemical Engineering of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Yogyakarta held a Research Collaboration with Flensburg University, Technische Universitat Berlin, and Leipzig University (Germany) on 9-28 December 2019 in the form of research and conferences.

Those who did the activity were UAD Chemical Engineering students: Mar’atul Husna, Tifanny Rizka Ariandi and Lia Septianingsih. The aim is to expand the research network of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Yogyakarta students with Flensburg University, Technische Universitat Berlin, Leipzig University (Germany) and fellow of scientists in Germany. “So that it will create sustainable use of resources and facilities between institutions,” explained Mar’atul Husna, Tuesday (12/10/2019).

In addition, it is enhancing the ability of UAD Yogyakarta students in sector of research to collaborate with Flensburg University, Technische Universitat Berlin, and Leipzig University (Germany). Also increasing international recognition for the research conducted, improving the quality of research at UAD Yogyakarta students and the number of scientific publications in reputable international scientific journals.

UAD Yogyakarta students delivered “Nutrients Potential for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Patients using Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) from Marine Microalgae and Capsulated from Eucheuma Cottonii Seaweed”. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is an effective treatment for couples who have infertility problems. According to statistical data from the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2010 there were 48.5 million couples worldwide unable to have children. Where about 2 percent experienced primary infertility and 10.5 percent experienced secondary infertility. In the success of IVF treatment, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is one of the important components in early reproduction, including increased fecundity, oocyte maturation and embryo implementation.

Fish oil is one of the current sources of DHA. However, the challenge of environmental damage causes difficulties in the supply of quality and safe fish oil from pollution. Therefore, this research proposes that the source of DHA used comes from marine microalgae with Aurantiochytrium species which are assessed as having high DHA purity. Aurantiochytrium found in the tropics – such as Indonesia’s mangrove forests – has unique characteristics, which can produce DHA of 30-35 percent. DHA is an unsaturated fatty acid that is needed by the body. Unfortunately, the human body cannot produce DHA itself. In fact, DHA is needed in the IVF program. Therefore, in this research a DHA supplement from Aurantiochytrium was made which is packaged in a capsule shell made from seaweed species Eucheuma Cottonii. The supplement is also rich in fiber because the capsule shell is made from seaweed. (mediamu.id)

Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) attended the Partnership Meeting 7th GITA Erasmus, which was held for three days (4-6 / 12/2019) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). Representatives from UAD who attended the event included Hari Haryadi, M. Sc., Hendro Setyono, M.Sc. (Office of Business Affairs and Innovation), and Ida Puspita, M.A. Res. (Head of Office of International Affairs, UAD). The meeting is a routine agenda to discuss the activity progress and future plans on entrepreneurship, funded by Erasmus + European Union

Other members of the Erasmus+ Project GITA consortium also attended such as representatives from the University of Gloucestershire, Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), Universitas Brawijaya (UNIBRAW), President University, STIE Malang Kucecwara, and Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) as the host for the 7th Partnership Meeting.

The series of events also involved students displaying the products they created at LPN Unnes Growth Hub. The innovative products such as the FixIt online tailor application, the MDPL Farm installation to the Innovative Cactus were exhibited there. Visitors were enthusiastic about seeing the product, some even decided to buy the product. (i)

BIMAWA in Collaboration With Office of International Affairs (OIA) UAD Held International Event

Bureau of Student Affairs and Alumni (BIMAWA) of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) in collaboration with Office of International Affairs (KUI) UAD held international event titled Ahmad Dahlan International Event, Wednesday to Saturday (27-30 / 11/2019). UAD International Event was opened by Dr. Abdul Fadil as vice-rector student affairs.

Danang Sukantar (Head of Student Development Division of BIMAWA UAD) and Galuh Febri Putra (KUI-UAD) said that the event was attended by 30 foreign students, from 10 countries, and 3 continents. Galuh explained the 10 countries are Bangladesh, Belgium, China, Hungary, Laos, Madagascar, Malaysia, Palestine, Vietnam, and Thailand. “The ten countries include 3 continents of Asia, Europe, and Africa, there are 199 foreign students actively studying at UAD”.

Danang Sukantar said that UAD International Event was also attended by 15 Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah universities (PTMA). PTMA sent selected students to this program. The PTMA, Stikes Aisyiyah Surakarta, Stikes Muhammadiyah Gombong, UAD, Universitas Muhammadiyah Buton, UM Kudus, UM Malang, UM Magelang, UM Maluku Utara, UM Semarang, UM Sukabumi, UM Sumatera Barat, UM Surabaya, UM Tasik, UM Prof Hamka, UM Sidoarjo. According to Danang Sukantar, there were many competitions and seminar in the event such as singing competition, photography competition, painting competition, international art exhibition, international seminal, presenting Ida Puspita MA. Res. As keynote speaker (Head of KUI), Ahmed AO Shbair (Palestine) Dori Kriss (Hungary) Chen Yan (China) Ahmad Naquib Quiet bin Salim (Malaysia). The seminar chose the theme of the International Seminar on Cross-Cultural Understanding: Developing Human Resources to face the Industrial Revolution 4.0

UAD Students Won International Competition in Malaysia

Andini Mandala Putri, a student of English Literature Department got the first winner of Poster Exhibition and Competition at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia. This event was held on November 22^nd, 2019 at Creative Media Technology Hub Menara SAAS. Along with 2 students from UiTM, Linda Nusi Morius and Muhammad Amirul bin Amran, they were presenting a poster titled “Lexical Ambiguity and its Significance in Internet Humour”. There are 29 participants of this competition.

Andini is one of five students of UAD English Literature Department who joined this event as the final project of Advanced Reading subject. The students collected the materials of their posters through secondary research.

Andini and 6 others UAD students are the exchange students who are studying at UiTM for one semester. Andini Mandala Putri, Arizka Ummarina, Fadia Nurhasanah, Jasmina Zahra, and Melya Putri Astari are studying under ASEAN+3 and Europe scholarship program while Anleny Situmeang and Auryza Nur Fadhila are studying under AIMS (Asian International Mobility for Students) program.
