Three Students of Madrasah Scholarship from Mindanao Take Master Program in UAD

Yesterday, Office of International Affairs of UAD welcomed three students of Madrasah Scholarship from Mindanao Philippines. They are Jehanie Mascasawang, Norcaisa G. Mudsol, and Saada Omar. They take Master Program of Education Management in UAD. They have been studying Bahasa Indonesia since three weeks before coming to Indonesia. Although it is only a short time learning of Bahasa Indonesia, they could speak and understand Bahasa well.

In the welcoming ceremony, those students did not only introduce themselves but also asked some questions to UAD about the research. Besides, there was also Syarifudin, an alumnus of darmasiswa UAD 2007 from Mindanao, sharing his study experiences in UAD. And, Prof. Sarbiran, M.Ed.,P.hD. as vice rector IV of UAD said to those students not to hesitate to ask if they have questions or difficulties, and he hoped that they could study hard and finish their study well.

Students of UAD Joined Cultural Exchange at IFSU, Philippines

10 students and 5 lecturers of UAD went to Ifugao State University (IFSU), Philippines to join cultural exchange for 8 days form December 3rd to 12th, 2012. Those students are Ndaru Asmara, Putra Aji Aimujtahid, Sulastuni, Dwi Rina Nurcahyati, Vivi Ardiyanti Ledy, Mentari Cahya Nisa, Fajar Fitriani, Citra, Devinta Dwi Marviana, and Nur Khamudah from International Based Teacher Education (PGBI) study program of mathematics, physics, and biology. And the lecturers are Ulaya Ahdiani, S.S., M.Hum. (Vice Dean of Faculty of Letters), Drs.Ishafit, M.Si. (Dean of Faculty of Teacher and Training Education), Drs. Abdul Taram, M.Si. (Head of Department of Mathematics Education), Muh. Joko Susilo, M.Pd, and Irfan Yunianto, M.Sc. (lecturers of biology education study program).

Those students not only did cultural exchange in IFSU but they also did some other programs, such as present their mini research, tree planting, do some visits. On cultural exchange, those students teached students of IFSU some Indonesian culture, such as Saman dance (a traditional dance from Aceh), Angklung (a traditional music instrument from West Java), Cublak Cublak Suweng (traditional song from Central Java), and some indonesian traditional games. And students of IFSU teached UAD’s students their culture, such as their traditional song “Itetem” and their traditional dance “Ayangan”. Then they performed those all on clossing of this program. Besides, each study program presented their mini researches. Devinta and Nur Khamidah from biology education study program presented their research about Medicional Herbs for Poultry, Mentari and friends from physics study program presented their research about Free Fall Motion By Using Computer Programs, and Ndaru and friends from mathematics education study program presented their research about Forecasting by using Julian Calendar. Those students also did sit-in class for six different subjects which cover maths, physics, and biology field.For biology field, they sitted in agriculture class because the content of biology provided on that class. Beside the students, those lecturers of UAD also did a lecturer exchange right there which is an international target activity of UAD. That lecturer exchange is done by sharing the best practice with lecturers of IFSU.

All the students who join this program said that they get many things from this. Not only experiences, but also many other lessons that they want to share to the other students in UAD. They also glad to know how curious students of IFSU to get to know about Indonesia and they are very excited when they learned Indonesian culture. Those UAD’s student expect that they could join the other student exchange later. (eci)

A Graduated Student of UAD Becomes an English Teacher in Thailand

Dewi Murti Purwaningrum, a graduated student from Faculty of Letters UAD becomes an English teacher in Thailand. She studied in UAD since 2007 t0 2012 and after her graduation she got an opportunity to be an English teacher at Foundation Saengtham Wittaya Trang School, South Thailand. Foundation Saengtham Wittaya Trang School is kind of islamic public boarding school (from playgroup to senior high school) and she teaches English from first grade of junior high school to third grade of senior high school at that school.

According to her experience, it is quite difficult to teach English to the students right there. Maybe it is because the students are not common and familiar with English. So, even she teaches by the easiest and simplest way, they are still difficult to understand it. But, fortunately, in every class there are two or three students who good in English. So, they can help the other students to understand it. Although it is difficult for the students to understand what she teaches, the students have a strong willing and hard work to be able in English. The other experience she gets are the diciplince and the nationalism of Thai people.

According to her, being an English teacher right there is prospective because the teachers are being respectied very much. Besides, English teachers are very needed right there. The English teacher should not only be able to speak English but also should be able to speak Bahasa Indonesia and Arabic. So, if there is anyone who interested to be an English teacher right there may contact her.(Eci)

International Students of UAD in International Vintage Custom Festival

The Vintage Costume Festival was held at Green Hall Campus 3 UAD on 15^thDecember, 2012. This event was participated by 43 contestants from various background; 5 professional models; 5 models from foreign students of UAD (Chen Qinjun, Zhou Pengfei, and Wang Jiuling from China, Ahmed Basuni from Egypt, and Rachel Claire Hill from England); professional judges (R.A Eny Esyta Kolopaking, B.A,S.Pd,M.M., a director of Puspadanta, Nur Amini Hidayati, S.Psi., a modelling coach, and Nurul Zuriah; and guest stars (Astri Ivo and Edis Adelia).

This event was also held in to celebrate 52^nd Milad of UAD. In that event, there were also some performances, such as dance “Ayun” performed by darmasiswa’s students of UAD 2012/2013, a song by Ni Peishi (China), Mushab (Thailand), Jannah (Indonesia), and Poetry performance by Lisa, Sisi, and Wini (China). And the winner of that Vintage Costume Festival were Dewi Niki Annisa’ and Priski Antoni as The Most Favorite, Yusrina Hidayati and Tutut Mulyasari as The Best Catwalk, Amanda Deby Sheviana and Rhomita Sari as The Best Costume, and Yusnita M and Putri M. Utami as The Most Fotogenic. (Eci)

UAD Welcomes UUM on Student Mobility Exchange Program

Today, UAD welcomed a group of students and lecturers of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) that will join UAD’s international programs Student Mobility Exchange. This program will start tomorrow (November 30th to Desember 1st, 2012) in some campuses of UAD. There were 14 students and 5 representatives from School of Multimedia Technology and Communication of UUM consist of dean, lectures, and staff, such as Prof. Dr. Norshuhada Shiratuddin, Dr. Mohd. Sobhi Ishak, Encik Bahtiar Mohamad, Cik Awan Ismail, and Puan Siti Zaleha Ahmad Nadzim.

In this student mobility exchange, the students of UUM will have some agenda during their times in UAD, such as joining International Seminar, Workshop on Production Video Broad Casting and sit-in lecture. Besides, some of the lecturers will give General stadium at Faulty of Literature, Culture and Communication and General Stadium at Faculty of Industrial Technology UAD tommorow, and on the last day, the dean will be one of the speakers in the International Seminar of ICON C-COMET. The Delegatios of University of Malaya Visit UAD to Realize MoA

Wednesday, November 21, 2012 the delegations of University of Malaya (UM) visited Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) at Campus I Jl. Kapas No. 9 Semaki Yogyakarta. UM represented by Prof. Dr. Zuraidah Mohd. Don (Dean of Faculty of Languages and Linguistics) Prof Madiya. Dr Jariah. Mohd. Jan (Deputy Dean of Research and Development), Dr. Tam Shu Shim (Head of English Department), Dr. Mat Taib b. Pa (Head of Arabic and Middle Eastern Language Department), Pn. Hooi. Moon Yee (Head of Language Unit), Dr. Hj Muhammad b. Seman (Coordinator of Undergraduate and Arabic Linguistics), and Dr. Mohd. Zaki Abd. Rahman (Coordinator of Master of Arabic Linguistics) were welcomed by Rector of UAD (Drs. Kasiyarno, M.Hum) and other staff, such as Vice Rector I (Drs. Muchlas, MT.), Vice Rector IV (Prof. Drs Sarbiran M.Ed., P.hD.), Dean of Faculty of Islam (Drs. Parjiman, M.Ag.), Head of Arabic Language and Letters Department (Abdul Muchlis, S.Ag., M.Ag.), Dean of Faculty of Letters and Communication (Drs. Umarino, M.Hum.), Head of English Letters Department (Tri Rina Budiyati, S.S., M.Hum.), and Head of Indonesian Letters Department (Dra. Ani Yuliyati, M.Hum.). The visit of UM was to sign and realize MoA between UM and UAD.

In his speech, rector of UAD hoped that the implementation of signing this MoA could be realized in student exchange, international joint seminar and workshop, research, research publishing, and in academic such as undergraduate, master, and PhD programs. In the speech of UM delivered by Prof. Dr. Zuraidah Mohd. Don, it was said that they visit UAD because UAD is a good university with prominent shades of religiousity.(Eci)

OIA of UAD Welcomes Their New Foreign Students Year 2012-2013

A welcoming ceremony toned up the auditorium of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan on Jl. Kapas no. 9 Semaki, Yogyakarta. The welcoming ceremony on last Saturday night (9/29) was held to welcome the foreign students of UAD year 2012-2013. There are 76 foreign students who coming this year. They are come frome China, Thailand, India, Malaysia, England, Spain, Belgium, and Egypt. They join some study programs in UAD, such as Bussiness Economics, Indonesian Letters, English Letters, Arabic Language and Literature, Darmasiswa, English Education, BIPA, MIT, Psychology, and Engineering. With all those students, there are more than hundred foreign students who has been studied at UAD. Some other students who has been studies at UAD are come from Netherland, Korea, Timor Leste, Japan, Poland, Philipine, etc.

The welcoming ceremony was opened by the beautiful sound of Gamelan by Gending Bahana. Then, continued with the performance of darmasiswa’s students who sang Indonesia Raya, the Indonesian national anthem. The speech was delivered by rector of UAD, the chief committee by Intan Rawit Sapanti, S.Pd., and the representative of foreign student by Cheng Cheng. The main agenda was marked with putting UAD’s coat on some representatives of foreign students from each study programs which was done by rector of UAD, Drs. Kasiyarno, M.Hum. In addition, that welcoming ceremony was also enlivened by other performances, such as Ngarojeng dance by dance community of UAD, Muhasabah Cinta by Mus-ab (foreign student from thailand), Ai Yao Tan Dang Dang, by Ni Peishi (darmasiswa’s student from china,) Guang Hui Sui Yue by Chen Qingjun (darmasiswa’s student from china), Lian Ai ING by Ni Peishi and Chen Qingjun, Gamelan musics by Gending Bahana, Aankhen Khuli Ho Yaan Ho Band by Herojit Moirangthem (darmasiswa students from India), and classical violin by Raquel Cabello (darmasiswa’s student from Spain) who played the compossition of Vivaldi, The Four Season and Duke Ellington, In a Sentimental Mood.

That ceremony was not only attended by the foreign students. It is also attended by the deans, lecturers, head of faculties, head of study programs, representaive of MIT program, and representative of Chinese people in Yogyakarta. Besides, there was a special thing in this welcoming ceremony where all the committees were wearing various Indonesian traditional clothes from some difference areas in Indonesia, such as from Lampung, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, Jakarta, Bali, Yogyakarta, etc. By that, the committees would like to introduce the beautiful of Indonesia through its traditional clothes to foreign students. Japanese Government Scholarship: JENESYS PROGRAM 2012

PROGRAM JENESYS untuk MAHASISWA

1. TUJUAN

Program JENESYS adalah program yang mempromosikan pertukaran pemuda di kawasan Asia Timur (negara-negara ASEAN, Australia, China, India, Selandia Baru, dan Korea Selatan) dengan tujuan memperdalam rasa saling pengertian di antara para remaja yang merupakan generasi penerus yang akan berperan penting di negara-negara peserta.

2. GARIS BESAR PROGRAM

Pemerintah Jepang akan mengundang 70 mahasiswa universitas yang tertarik untuk belajar ke Jepang, untuk mengunjungi universitas di Jepang, tempat penelitian, tempat bersejarah di Jepang, dan lain lain. Program ini rencananya akan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 8 Mei 2012 hingga 16 Mei 2012. Program ini akan dilaksanakan dalam bahasa inggris, dan interpreter bahasa Jepang-Inggris atau sebaliknya akan disediakan untuk semua kegiatan.

(1) Syarat Peserta

Peserta direkomendasikan oleh universitas untuk mengikuti program ini.
Peserta adalah mahasiswa S1 tingkat 3 yang masih aktif belajar di Universitas.
Peserta bisa berkomunikasi dalam bahasa inggris.
Peserta bersedia mempresentasikan kegiatannya selama di Jepang kepada universitas asalnya.

(2) Biaya Peserta

Pemerintah Jepang akan menyediakan tiket pulang pergi dari Indonesia ke Jepang.
Akomodasi , tranportasi dan konsumsi selama program juga akan disediakan.
Akomodasi, transportasi di dalam Indonesia juga disediakan.

Kunjungan ke Kementrian Luar Negri Jepang dan Lembaga terkait.
Kunjungan ke beberapa Universitas di Jepang.
Darmawisata untuk mendapatkan pengalaman budaya jepang dan teknologi terdepan.
Ramah tamah dengan pelajar Jepang.
Kegiatan lain ( kunjungan tempat bersejarah, acara pertukaran budaya, dll).

3. Tahapan Proses

Setiap Universitas dapat merekomendasikan masing – masing 1 kandidat dari setiap bidang di bawah ini ( Sehingga totalnya menjadi maksimal 3 kandidat per Universitas ) .

Chinese Government Scholarship 2012

APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP 2012

(Issued by Guangxi University for Nationalities in 2012)

Chinese Government Scholarship scheme was established by the Ministry of Education of China (hereinafter referred to as MOEC) in accordance with educational exchange agreements or understandings reached between the Chinese government and the governments of other countries, educational organ, institutions and relevant international organizations to provide full scholarship and partial scholarship to international students and scholars. China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) administers the recruitment of international students and the routine management of the Chinese Government Scholarship scheme. Guangxi University for Nationalities has been approved to recruit 40 foreignstudents for Master degree programs with full scholarship from Chinese government in 2012.

I. Duration and Requirements for Scholarship for Master Degree Students

1. The Duration of Master Degree students is 3 years.

2. Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health.

3. Applicants must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.

4. Applicants are required to have a certain command of Chinese.

II. Programs for Master Degree

Applicants are required to choose the programs for Master Degree offered by Guangxi University for Nationalities.

III. Details of the full Scholarship

1. Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee for basic learning materials and intramural accommodation;

2. Living allowance and a one-off settlement subsidy;

3. Fee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China;

4. Fee for a one-off inter-city travel

IV. Application Procedures

Applicants shall apply to College of International Education, Guangxi University for Nationalities before 20 March, 2012.

V. Application Materials

The applicants must fill in and provide the following materials truly and correctly (in duplicate).

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship （filled in Chinese or English）

Those who are available for online application shall fill in and print the application form after submitting it online. Submit one original with photo and one photocopy

The CSC Online Application System for Study in China is available on http://laihua.csc.edu.cn . The code number for Guangxi University for Nationalities is 10608.

Those who cannot apply online shall contact the dispatching authorities to get the application form and fill it truly, correctly and completely.

2. Notarized certificates of Bachelor degree and copy of senior high school transcripts. If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide documents of being university students or on-post employees. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or English.

3. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (download from http:www.csc.edu.cn ) filled in English. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration while determining the time to take the medical examination.

4. A study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words for postgraduates).

5. Applicants overseas for master or doctoral degree studies and senior scholars must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors.

6. Photocopy of passport.

VI. Approval and Notification

1. Guangxi University for Nationalities and relevant organizations will review all the application materials. The qualified applications will be forwarded to CSC and the final decision whether to admit the applicants or not will be made by them.

2. CSC will send the List of Enrolled Students, Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study In China (JW201)to the relevant dispatching authorities by July 31, so as to have these documents forwarded to the awardees.

3. The students accepted shall apply to the Chinese Embassies (general consulates) for student visa with valid Ordinary Passport, Visa Application for Study in China (JW201), Admission Notice and Foreigner Physical Examination Form and enroll in Guangxi University for Nationalities with the above documents at the date stated in the Admission Notice.

The 2nd International Day “Culinary and Costume Fest-Culture in Harmony” 2011

Bearing the theme “Culture in Harmony”, the Office of International Affairs once again proudly presented The 2nd International Day “Culinary and Costume Festival”. The event, held annually by Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, took place at the Green Hall , Campus III of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan.

The festival was marked with a number of interesting events such as culinary festival, fashion show and International costume festival. The culinary festival boasted as many as 11 culinary stands from six different countries: China, Korea, Japan,Polandia, Malaysia and Timor Leste. Each stand was adorned with the country’s specialty dishes such as Okonomiyski and sushi from Japan, Tom Yang Kung and Pad Thai from Thailand, Nasi Lemak from Malaysia, as well as Peking Duck and Chinese dumpling from china. The festival successfully attracted a large number of visitors, mostly students. They had a chance to taste different kinds of dishes offered free of charge by each participating country.

The Fashion Show and International Costume Festival was equally successful with as many as forty participants taking part in the coustme festival. They featured some glamorous and attractive costumes. Five Darmasiswa students; Kwon Gamin (Korea), Waka Murano (Japan), Tang Lisi (China), Elizabeth Palka (Polandia), and Zhong Xin (China) joined the fashion show and displayed some beautiful clothes from several famous designers in Jogja after being given a one-week training by H.Adi Karang-a designer and talent search- of Adana Modelling School. There were 4 designers who took part in the fashion show, Sugeng Waskito (Gee Batik), Yulvita Paramita Dewi (Janitra )Adam Hamimie (Javasionist), and Klambi Telazoo by Sumita.

Intan Rawit Sapanti, S.Pd, the convener of the program hoped that the Festival would enhance the spirit of cultural exchange among International students and local students of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan and wished for a much better and more successful International Day to come.
