UAD and UiTM Malaysia Explore the Commercialization of Student Innovations Through Academic and Entrepreneurial Collaboration
Yogyakarta – Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD), through its Office of Cooperation and International Affairs (OCIA), welcomed a delegation from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, at the Joint Meeting Room of the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI), UAD. The visit served as a platform for exchanging ideas and strengthening international collaboration in the fields of innovation, entrepreneurship, and student development.
The UAD delegation was represented by Ulaya Ahdiani, S.S., M.Hum., Head of the Office of Cooperation and International Affairs; Afitr Istiandaru, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of the International Cooperation Division; Dr. Dini Yuniarti, S.E., M.Si., CIQnR., Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business; representatives from the Office of Business and Investment Affairs, Beni Suhendra Winarso, S.E., M.Si. and Dr. Choirul Fajri, S.I.Kom., M.A.; as well as the Head of the Bureau of Student Affairs and Alumni.
The UiTM delegation was led by Associate Professor Dr. Badrul Isa, Assistant Vice Chancellor (Entrepreneurship) of UiTM. The delegation also included lecturers from the Faculty of Business and Management (FBM)—Dr. Nurzaki Ikhsan, Pn. Hafizah Hassan, and En. Sumardianshah Bin Silah—along with six UiTM students participating in the academic visit.
The program began with a presentation showcasing UAD’s achievements in innovation and research. One of the featured innovations was the Smart-Hybrid Solar Dome Dryer, a solar-powered drying technology equipped with an intelligent monitoring system designed to improve the efficiency of agricultural and industrial drying processes. UAD also introduced a range of other innovations featured in its UAD Innovation Catalog, demonstrating the university’s commitment to developing research and technology that contribute to society and industry.
The event continued with an interactive innovation presentation and discussion session involving students from both universities. UAD and UiTM students took turns presenting their ideas, projects, and innovations, covering topics such as technology-based solutions, product development, and entrepreneurial concepts with strong commercialization potential.
The discussion was enriched by academic mentors from both institutions, who provided valuable feedback from academic, technical, and business perspectives. The participation of the Faculty of Economics and Business, the Office of Business and Investment Affairs, and the Bureau of Student Affairs and Alumni further enhanced the discussion by offering insights into innovation commercialization strategies, business model development, funding opportunities, and the necessary steps to transform innovative ideas into market-ready products.
Through this forum, students not only gained the opportunity to present their ideas and receive constructive feedback but also developed a deeper understanding of the innovation process—from conceptualization to practical implementation. The exchange of experiences between UAD and UiTM students is expected to broaden their perspectives and inspire future cross-border collaborations in innovation and entrepreneurship.
This visit reflects the shared commitment of UAD and UiTM to strengthening international partnerships that foster the development of creative, innovative, and globally competitive young leaders. Looking ahead, both institutions aim to expand their collaboration in research, student exchange, startup development, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship programs that generate meaningful impacts for society.
