UAD Welcomes SEA Teacher Students from Adamson University
Yogyakarta – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) continues to strengthen its international network through the SEA Teacher Batch 11 program. On Monday (April 20), FKIP UAD held a welcoming ceremony at the Educator Hall, Campus 4, to receive two inbound students from Adamson University, Philippines.
The program will run from April 20 to May 10, 2026, during which the students will undertake teaching practice at SMA Negeri 5 Yogyakarta. Throughout the program, they will be guided by a field supervisor, Ramadani Uswatun Khasanah, to ensure a smooth adaptation and effective learning process.
The SEA Teacher Coordinator of FKIP, Aan Hendroanto, stated that the program is not only focused on improving teaching skills but also serves as a platform for cross-cultural exchange and international educational experiences.
In her remarks, the Vice Dean II of FKIP UAD, Ani Susanti, introduced Yogyakarta as a city known not only for tourism but also as an educational hub rich in cultural values. She emphasized that Yogyakarta offers a unique and contextual learning environment for international students.
Appreciation was also expressed by a representative from Adamson University, Loralie F. Canape, who highlighted that the SEA Teacher program provides opportunities for students to develop not only academic competence but also character.
“Students do not only learn teaching skills but also develop empathy, responsibility, and sensitivity toward the learning environment,” she stated.
The two inbound students, Reanne Ivy T. Ubao and Keisha Allyne T. Carrillo, introduced themselves during the event. Both expressed their enthusiasm for participating in the program as an opportunity to gain direct experience in Indonesia’s educational environment, broaden their cultural perspectives, and build international connections.
Support was also conveyed by the partner school, SMA Negeri 5 Yogyakarta. The Vice Principal for Curriculum, Dewi, noted that the presence of SEA Teacher students brings new energy to the learning process. She emphasized that the program aligns with an educational approach that focuses not only on cognitive aspects but also on students’ character development.
“Education is not only about knowledge but also about shaping students’ character,” she explained.
The program is further supported by academic mentors, including Nani Aprilia from the Biology Education Study Program and Eko Nursulistyo from the Physics Education Study Program, who play key roles in strengthening academic supervision during the teaching practice.
Through the SEA Teacher program, FKIP UAD continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing inclusive and collaborative global learning experiences, preparing future educators who are not only academically competent but also adaptable in facing the challenges of education in a global era.
