UAD Organized an Orientation Program for New International Students in 2025
Yogyakarta, December 11, 2025 — Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) once again reaffirmed its commitment as a globally oriented university by organizing an orientation program for 38 new international students. The event was held by the Office of Cooperation and International Affairs (KKUI UAD) on Thursday (11/12) at the Audio Visual Room of the Muhammadiyah Museum.
The orientation serves as an important first step for international students to familiarize themselves with academic, social, and cultural life in Indonesia, particularly within the UAD environment. The event was symbolically opened by the Head of KKUI UAD, Ulaya Ahdiani, S.S., M.Hum., accompanied by the Head of the International Cooperation Division, Afit Istiandaru, S.Pd., M.Pd.
The orientation program consisted of several informative and practical sessions. In the first session, Afit Istiandaru introduced the academic system, academic services, and various student activities at UAD. This session provided a comprehensive overview of campus life that international students will experience during their studies.
In addition to academic introduction, UAD also provides language support for international students through BIPA (Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers) classes. This program is intended for international students who have not yet mastered the Indonesian language or those who wish to further improve their Indonesian proficiency, supporting both their academic activities and social interactions during their stay in Indonesia.
The next session covered immigration regulations, presented by Chintia Dwi Putri, Amd.Im., S.H. from the Yogyakarta Immigration Office. During this session, students were provided with important information about residence permits in Indonesia and the administrative obligations they must comply with during their study period.
Financial literacy was also highlighted during the orientation. Suwasono Adi Kurniawan, S.E., M.M., Branch Manager of BPD DIY Syariah, provided insights into the banking system in Indonesia and reminded students to remain vigilant against various scam schemes that often target foreign nationals.
The program concluded with a session on cross-cultural understanding delivered by Ruslinah, S.Pd., M.Hum. The session emphasized the importance of respecting differences in culture, values, and habits within a multicultural academic environment.
Through this orientation, it is hoped that UAD’s international students will begin their studies with greater confidence, adaptability, and readiness to contribute positively to creating an inclusive and globally competitive academic environment.
