FKIP Welcomes SEA Teacher Students from West Visayas State University
The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) held a Welcoming Ceremony for SEA Teacher Batch 11 to welcome inbound students from West Visayas State University, Philippines. This follows the successful completion of the program by two students from Capiz State University at partner schools in Yogyakarta.
The two incoming students are Romavil N. Abelrade, a Special Needs Education major who will conduct her teaching practice at SD Muhammadiyah Kleco 1, and Mhegan Lois V. Valerio from Early Childhood Education, who will be assigned to TK-KB Aisyiyah Nyai Ahmad Dahlan. The FKIP UAD SEA Teacher Coordinator, Aan Hendroanto, S.Pd., M.Sc., explained that the students will stay in Yogyakarta for four weeks, from March 31 to April 25, 2026, following a structured schedule of activities each week.
Aan also conveyed that the inbound students are expected to do more than just participate in teaching activities; they are encouraged to be actively involved in various other academic endeavors at both the partner schools and within the UAD environment. He invited the students to engage in cross-cultural learning experiences and expressed his hope that they would feel like part of the extended UAD family during their time in the program.
Representing West Visayas State University, Mr. Micron Rey Barredo Fuego, LPT, Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the well-established cooperation. He emphasized that the sustainability of collaboration between institutions is vital for improving the quality of teacher education on a global level. According to him, this program serves as a crucial medium for aligning teacher education practices while strengthening the international education community.
Through the SEA Teacher program, FKIP UAD continues to encourage students to learn directly from real-world teaching experiences at partner schools. In addition to honing their pedagogical skills, this program provides a broad opportunity for participants to understand new cultures and build international networks from an early stage.
