Strengthening Global Togetherness, UAD International Students Join Excursion 2026
Kulon Progo – The Office of Cooperation and International Affairs of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) organized the International Students Excursion 2026 on April 18, 2026. Carrying the theme “Dolan Bareng” (having fun together), the event took place in Boro Village and was attended by 40 international students from various countries.
The participants came from diverse backgrounds, including Thailand, China, Kenya, Egypt, Madagascar, the Philippines, South Korea, and Suriname. They are international students from the 2025–2026 cohort currently studying at UAD. The program also involved six students serving as International Buddies, who acted as companions and facilitators during the academic and social adaptation process of international students within the campus environment.
The event was officially opened by the Head of the International Cooperation Division of UAD, Afit Istiandaru, who expressed his hope that the activity would strengthen connections among students from different countries.
“Through this activity, we hope all international students can get to know each other better while also gaining a deeper understanding of Indonesian culture, especially that of Yogyakarta,” he stated.
This program aimed to help students build connections, foster a sense of togetherness, and encourage mutual collaboration. In addition to enjoying the natural beauty and local culture, participants had the opportunity to experience new activities. One of the most memorable moments was body rafting, which for many students was their first experience and was met with great enthusiasm.
More than just a recreational activity, the program served as an initial step for international students to explore Indonesia more closely and experience the warmth of community in their new environment. The excursion also reflects UAD’s commitment to supporting campus internationalization by providing immersive cultural experiences. Through direct engagement with local communities, international students are expected to gain a deeper appreciation of local values while expanding their global networks.
Through initiatives like this, UAD continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating an inclusive, multicultural, and globally competitive academic environment.
