FKIP UAD Welcomes SEA Teacher Students from Central Luzon State University, Philippines
Yogyakarta – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) held the Welcoming Ceremony for SEA Teacher Batch 11 on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the Educator Hall, Campus 4 UAD. The event was organized to welcome students participating in the SEA Teacher program from Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Philippines.
Previously, FKIP UAD had also hosted SEA Teacher students from Capiz State University and West Visayas State University, with two students from each institution. This reflects FKIP UAD’s consistency in developing international cooperation within the Southeast Asian region.
The SEA Teacher Coordinator of FKIP UAD, Aan Hendroanto, explained that CLSU is one of UAD’s long-standing international partners that has participated in the program multiple times. “CLSU has sent students to UAD three times. Previously, FKIP UAD also sent two students to CLSU from January to February 2026 from the English Language Education and Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Programs,” he stated.
The CLSU students participating in SEA Teacher Batch 11 at UAD are Beatrice Sofia Gayle S. Ignacio, specializing in Culture and Arts Education, and Glanela Asley R. Castillo, from the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education program with a focus on Livelihood and Life Skills Education.
In her remarks, the Vice Dean II of FKIP UAD, Ani Susanti, emphasized the importance of communication skills in cross-cultural contexts. She encouraged students to remain confident and open when interacting in a new environment.
“Language is unique and fascinating. Even without mastering another language, communication can still take place through various means such as body language and gestures. As long as communication is carried out effectively, the message will be understood,” she explained.
During the program, the two students will conduct teaching practice at SD Muhammadiyah Kleco 1 from April 13 to May 10, 2026. They will be guided by the Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI) and Civic Education (PPKn) Study Programs of FKIP UAD.
A representative of SD Muhammadiyah Kleco 1, Etri Widyastuti, expressed appreciation for the trust given to the school as a program partner. She noted that this is the second time the school has hosted students from CLSU.
“We are very pleased to once again welcome students from CLSU. Their presence brings new experiences for both students and teachers at our school,” she said.
Through this initiative, FKIP UAD continues to strengthen its commitment to building international collaboration in education. The SEA Teacher program is expected not only to serve as an academic exchange platform but also as a space for cross-cultural learning that benefits all parties involved.
