UAD Attracts 628 Prospective Students at the 2026 Higher Education Expo in Timor-Leste; Alumni Serve as Education Information Liaisons
Dili, Timor-Leste, September 8–11, 2026 — Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) expanded its international education outreach through its participation in the Higher Education Expo 2026, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Dili on September 8–11, 2026, in Dili, Timor-Leste. Through its Global Engagement Office (KKUI), UAD introduced various higher education opportunities to the people of Timor-Leste, with the involvement of UAD alumni from the country.
For this event, UAD was represented by two alumni: Nelion Ornai Monteiro, a graduate of UAD’s Master of Law program, and Basilio Franca Pereira Miranda, a graduate of UAD’s Master of Management program. Their involvement was part of UAD’s efforts to bring educational information closer to prospective students by sharing the firsthand experiences of alumni who had studied at UAD.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about UAD, including its study programs, degree levels, admission procedures, and various opportunities to pursue higher education in Yogyakarta. The alumni representatives also provided prospective students with insights into their academic experiences and student life at UAD.
One of the key achievements of UAD’s participation was the registration of 628 prospective students who expressed interest in pursuing their studies at UAD. Their interests covered various study programs and degree levels, ranging from undergraduate (bachelor’s) and master’s to doctoral programs. This achievement highlights the significant potential for expanding UAD’s educational outreach in Timor-Leste.
The involvement of alumni served as an approach to building closer connections with prospective students. As UAD graduates, Nelion Ornai Monteiro and Basilio Franca Pereira Miranda have firsthand experience of studying at the university. Their experiences enabled them to introduce UAD and provide prospective students with a clearer picture of the opportunities available for pursuing higher education in Indonesia.
UAD’s participation in the Higher Education Expo 2026 also reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening the internationalization of higher education and expanding its reach among prospective international students. Through this event, UAD sought to make information about higher education in Indonesia more accessible to the international community, particularly prospective students from Timor-Leste who wish to pursue further education.
For prospective students, access to clear information about study programs and admission procedures is an important consideration when choosing an educational destination. Therefore, UAD’s presence at the international education exhibition provided an opportunity to introduce its academic offerings while establishing communication with prospective students interested in studying in Indonesia.
The involvement of alumni as representatives of UAD also highlights the strategic role graduates play in supporting international education promotion. Alumni are not only part of the university’s academic journey but can also contribute to expanding the reach of educational information and building closer relationships with communities in their home countries.
Through its participation in the Higher Education Expo 2026, UAD hopes to follow up on the interest expressed by the 628 prospective students through further communication, application processes, and student admissions. Moving forward, UAD remains committed to expanding access to education for international students, strengthening its global network, and fostering closer educational ties between Indonesia and Timor-Leste.
