UAD Partners with IFI Yogyakarta to Expand Study Opportunities in France for Students and Faculty
Yogyakarta – Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the internationalization of higher education by organizing a Study in France Information Session in collaboration with Institut Français d’Indonésie (IFI) Yogyakarta on Thursday, July 2, 2026. Held at the Audio-Visual Room of the Muhammadiyah Museum, the event brought together students, heads of study programs, and faculty members from various faculties across UAD.
The information session provided participants with comprehensive insights into higher education opportunities in France, covering topics such as the French higher education system, university admission procedures, scholarship opportunities, and student life in France. Participants were also introduced to the wide range of services offered by IFI Yogyakarta, including French language courses, internationally recognized language certification, study consultation through Campus France, a multimedia library (Médiathèque), and various French cultural programs open to the public.
In his opening remarks, Afitr Istiandaru, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of the International Cooperation Division at UAD, emphasized that the event reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to broaden access to international education opportunities for its academic community.
“We hope this session will inspire students who aspire to pursue higher education in France. These opportunities are also available to our faculty members. We encourage heads of study programs to share this information with students interested in continuing their studies abroad,” he said.
Meanwhile, Margaux Nemmouchi, Director of IFI Yogyakarta, expressed her appreciation to UAD for hosting the event. She hoped that the partnership between IFI Yogyakarta and UAD would continue to grow and encourage more UAD students and faculty members to choose France as their destination for higher education.
Margaux also invited the entire UAD academic community to visit IFI Yogyakarta, located on Jalan Sagan, Yogyakarta. She explained that IFI serves not only as a center for information on higher education in France but also as a venue for learning the French language, obtaining international language certifications, exploring cultural exhibitions, attending film screenings, participating in discussions and concerts, and enjoying a variety of French arts and cultural events.
During the presentation session, Arya Seta, Pedagogy Coordinator at IFI Yogyakarta, introduced the French language learning programs available at IFI, including internationally recognized certification pathways such as DELF and TCF, which are important requirements for students planning to pursue higher education in French-speaking countries.
The following presentation was delivered by Agung Riantiarno, Campus France Coordinator in Yogyakarta, who highlighted the advantages of studying in France. He explained that the French government provides substantial tuition subsidies for international students at public universities, offers a wide range of scholarship opportunities, and provides access to more than 1,600 English-taught degree programs. In addition, international students are allowed to work part-time for up to 20 hours per week, benefit from France’s healthcare system, and enjoy various student discounts and services throughout their studies.
The discussion session was highly interactive, with participants enthusiastically asking questions about academic preparation, language proficiency requirements, scholarships, and the experience of living and studying in France as an international student.
One participant, Andrianaivomalala Tania, a UAD student from Madagascar, shared her aspiration to pursue further studies in France. She explained that French is the second language in her home country, making the opportunity to study in France one of her long-standing academic goals.
Through this event, UAD once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the internationalization of higher education by expanding access to global academic opportunities for both students and faculty members. The university hopes that its collaboration with IFI Yogyakarta will continue to grow through a variety of joint initiatives that contribute to enhancing educational quality and human resource development in the years ahead.
