UAD Promotes International Programs and Scholarship Opportunities in Indonesia–China Higher Education Webinar
Yogyakarta – Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) reaffirmed its commitment to expanding global educational partnerships by participating in the Indonesia–China Higher Education Internationalization Webinar, held virtually on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The international forum served as a strategic platform for universities from Indonesia and China to showcase their flagship programs, strengthen academic collaboration, and foster greater opportunities for student and faculty mobility between the two countries.
Representing UAD, Afitr Istiandaru, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of the International Cooperation Division, presented the university’s diverse range of international programs. His presentation highlighted study opportunities for international students across all academic programs, global partnership initiatives, scholarship opportunities, and comprehensive academic support services designed to enhance the learning experience of international students at UAD.
UAD offers two study pathways for international students: degree programs and non-degree programs. Through these options, students from around the world can pursue academic excellence while experiencing Indonesia’s rich cultural diversity.
The university also introduced several flagship programs specifically designed for international students, including Bahasa Indonesia for Foreign Speakers (BIPA), the Darmasiswa Scholarship Program, and various short courses. These programs are designed not only to improve participants’ Indonesian language proficiency but also to immerse them in Indonesia’s cultural heritage through interactive activities and experiential learning.
In addition, UAD showcased a number of innovation-driven international initiatives, including its Outbound Mobility Program and International Community Service Program (International KKN), both of which are open to students from around the world. These programs provide meaningful cross-cultural learning experiences while encouraging international collaboration and community engagement.
The webinar also featured remarks from Lestari Puspitaningsih, Education and Cultural Attaché of the Republic of Indonesia in China, who emphasized that the event represents a significant step toward strengthening higher education cooperation between Indonesia and China.
“This webinar serves not only as a promotional platform for universities in Indonesia and China but also as a catalyst for strengthening academic collaboration between the two countries. It opens broader opportunities for Indonesian and Chinese students to gain international academic experience through degree programs, student exchanges, and scholarship opportunities,” she stated.
Lestari further explained that the webinar supports the expansion of academic collaboration following the establishment of the Association of Indonesian Language Teachers and Practitioners for Foreign Speakers (APPBIPA) China, an official professional organization founded on June 12, 2026, to promote the development of Indonesian language education in China.
Meanwhile, Chen Wu, Education Attaché of the People’s Republic of China to Indonesia, expressed his appreciation for the strong educational ties that have been established between the two countries. According to him, increasing student and faculty mobility will play a vital role in fostering collaborative research, innovation, and the development of highly qualified human resources.
“Greater mobility of students and faculty members will drive collaborative research, innovation, and the development of higher-quality human resources,” Chen Wu remarked.
The webinar featured ten universities from Indonesia and China. Participating Indonesian institutions included Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD), Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA), and Universitas Andalas (UNAND). The participating Chinese universities were Hebei International Studies University (HISU), Xiamen University, Fujian Polytechnic Normal University (FPNU), Northeast Normal University (NENU), and Hefei University of Technology (HFUT).
