UAD Strengthens Global Partnerships through Participation in the Global Sustainable Development Congress 2026
Jakarta – Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) participated in the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) 2026, a prestigious international forum that brings together academics, government representatives, industry leaders, civil society organizations, and global decision-makers to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Organized by Times Higher Education (THE), the congress was held from June 22–25, 2026, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, Jakarta.
This year, Indonesia had the honor of hosting GSDC 2026, placing the country at the center of global efforts to foster collaboration for a more sustainable future. Under the theme “Collective Action for a Sustainable Future,” the congress welcomed more than 5,000 participants from over 100 countries, including university leaders, researchers, policymakers, industry representatives, investors, non-governmental organizations, and community leaders committed to advancing the global sustainable development agenda.
UAD participated as part of the delegation representing the Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (PTMA). The delegation was facilitated by the Association of International Offices of PTMA (ASKUI PTMA) under the coordination of the Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (Diktilitbang) of the Muhammadiyah Central Board. A total of 28 PTMA delegates attended the international forum, demonstrating the commitment of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah universities to promoting sustainable development through global collaboration.
Throughout the four-day congress, participants attended international conferences, high-level panel discussions, interactive workshops, innovation exhibitions, and partnership forums addressing key global issues, including climate change, clean energy, the circular economy, quality education, social inequality, and sustainable cities and communities. The congress also served as a platform for transforming research findings and innovative ideas into practical solutions that generate meaningful impact for society.
The UAD delegation comprised representatives from the Office of Cooperation and International Affairs (OCIA) and the University Planning and Development Agency (BPPU). Representing OCIA were Ulaya Ahdiani, S.S., M.Hum., Head of OCIA, and Afitr Istiandaru, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of the International Cooperation Division. Representing BPPU were Prof. Dr. apt. Nining Sugihartini, M.Si., Head of BPPU; Andri Pranolo, S.Kom., M.Cs., Ph.D., Head of the Reputation and Rankings Division; and Ir. Phisca Aditya Rosyady, S.Si., M.Sc., Head of the UAD Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
Participation in GSDC 2026 marks another strategic milestone in UAD’s efforts to expand its international network, strengthen academic collaboration, and enhance the exchange of knowledge and innovation in support of the Sustainable Development Goals. The university’s presence at this global forum also created new opportunities for collaboration in education, research, and community engagement with institutions from around the world.
Beyond strengthening international partnerships, UAD’s participation in GSDC 2026 further enhanced the university’s global visibility and reinforced its reputation as a competitive institution with an international outlook. Through its active engagement in this prestigious forum, UAD continues to position itself as a globally connected university committed to contributing to sustainable development while providing world-class opportunities for students, researchers, and academic partners worldwide.
