UAD Sends 11 AIMS Students of 2025, Record the Achievement with Highest Funding in Indonesia

Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) has once again marked an outstanding achievement through the Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) 2025 program, securing the highest funding in Indonesia while also sending the largest number of students nationwide—11 students—to pursue studies at leading universities abroad.

The pre-departure orientation and send-off ceremony for AIMS 2025 participants was organized by the Office of International Affairs (KKUI) UAD at the Global Lounge, Campus 1B UAD.

During the orientation session, students received various preparatory materials, ranging from international insights delivered by the Head of International Cooperation, Afit Istiandaru, S.Pd., M.Pd., to the implementation of Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah values at the international level, presented by the Head of LPSI, H. Rahmadi Wibowo Suwarno, Lc., M.A., M.Hum. In addition, students were also provided with technical knowledge on preparing final reports and financial accountability reports, presented by Salsabilla Ari Sekar Agrisukma, S.Si. and Nurun Isnaeni, S.Pd., M.L. from KKUI UAD.

Following the orientation, the students were officially sent off by UAD Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Sunardi, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. In his remarks, he advised students not only to focus on academics but also to uphold the university’s reputation and gain valuable experiences from the cultural diversity they will encounter.

“The AIMS program is not only about studying abroad, but also about broadening horizons, building international networks, and bringing back positive experiences to the homeland,” said Prof. Sunardi.

The send-off ceremony was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI), the Dean of the Faculty of Literature, Culture, and Communication (FSBK), as well as Heads of Study Programs whose students are participating in AIMS.

Afit Istiandaru added that UAD’s success in securing the highest funding and sending the largest number of students in AIMS 2025 reflects the academic quality and global competitiveness of UAD students. He expressed hope that this achievement will inspire other students to dream big, excel, and step onto the international stage.

Palestine Student Enthusiastically Participates in Short Course Psychology Program at univeritas Ahmad dahlan

universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) welcomed a Palestinian student for the 2024/2025 fall semester short course program. Rabee S L Iter, a resident of the West Bank, had the opportunity to join the short course in the Master’s Psychology program with a full scholarship from LAZISMU through the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development.

During the program, which ran from September 20-27, 2024, Rabee was very enthusiastic and actively participated in various activities, including seminars, group discussions, and visits to historical sites in Yogyakarta. He expressed that the program enriched his academic knowledge and provided an unforgettable cultural experience.

The short course program also created a space for international students to interact with local students. They exchanged experiences and perspectives, strengthening the ties between Indonesia and Palestine in education and culture. This short course program serves as a testament to how education and culture can be a bridge to foster closer relations between nations. UAD continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting global education and international collaboration through this program.

19 UAD students have been accepted into IISMA and AIMS Programs in the Republic of Korea, Ireland, Australia, and Malaysia

Yogyakarta (21 Agustus 2024), located at Ruang Ridang Utama Kampus 1 UAD, Office of Partnership and International Affairs conducted a Pre-Departure Ceremony for 19 students who are going to pursue their studies at 8 well-known world universities. 5 students have been accepted into the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) scholarship program, and 15 have been accepted into The Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS).

Five students who were granted IISMA scholarships were in Bachelor, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship programs. Putri Nabilah Yuningtias (Psychology Department) is scheduled to start her study in September 2024 at the University of Galway, Ireland; Siti Fayha Maytsa Rahmasari (Psychology Department) will start her study at University College Cork, Ireland in September 2024; and Abdee Firman al-Rasyid (English Literature) will begin his study on October at Universiti Malaya, Malaysia are under IISMA bachelor program.

IISMA Huda Muzaki Putra Andiana (Food Service Industry) has been accepted to the IISMAVocational Program. He has started his class at Woosong University, South Korea. Azra Latifah Listri (Management Department) will study at the University of Melbourne, Australia under the IISMA Entrepreneur Program.

Furthermore, UAD has been granted the AIMS program since 2010. This year, 14 students are accepted AIMS program. Zidna Navela Kamelia, Gandi Muhammad Boleng, Arzety Nabilla Katili, and Fasya Aqilla Ayu Widyadhana are students of Arabic Language and Literature scheduled to start their class in September 2024 at Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. Four students of English Literature, Sausan Fadhila Noor, Silvi Maulina Sagita, Aqil Julyanriko Pranata, and Agis Zalfa Verenia Nur Rizqy will study at Busan University of Foreign Studies, Republic of Korea. Fariz Noval Fauzi (Indonesian Literature) will study at Busan University of Foreign Studies, Republic of Korea.

Norsyifa (Chemical Engineering), Mohammad Farid Hendianto (Informatic), Shita Az Zahra Febrianti (Teknik Industri), dan Andi Bintang Toar Dondok (Informatika) will pursue their exchange program at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah, Malaysia, and Zahra Fadillah Utami Rivan (Food Technology) will study at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia.

The Office of Partnership and International Affairs conducted the pre-departure ceremony. This event was officially opened with a brief report of outbound programs. It was followed by a speech from Prof. Ir. Sunardi, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. (Vice-rector of Academic Affairs). He delivered full support for all outbound programs, especially IISMA and AIMS.oia

The scholarship is for one student for each Department / Study Program except undergraduate and master programs of Pharmacy and undergraduate programs of Medicine The components are as follows:

Tuition fee (full) for 8 semesters for undergraduate level
Tuition fee (full) for 4 semesters for master level
Tuition fee (full) for 8 semesters for doctoral level
Living allowance Rp. 2,000,000 (two million Rupiah) per month

The program activities

As a place rich of historical sites of the past Islamic civilization, Granada offers a lot of opportunities for academic staffs to explore. Therefore, the Erasmus+ ICM at the UGR facilitates the staff to work on the following activities.

Guest lecture and seminar, particularly in the topic of history of the Islamic civilization in Andalusia.
Sites visit the past Islamic caliphate architecture and buildings.
Joint research and discussion on the role of past Islamic civilization to the culture development in Spain.

Sea Teacher Program Students flooded UAD

After COVID-19 was officially declared ended, the Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia (Sea Teacher) program students’ number surged rocketly. Sea-teacher is a yearly event that gives opportunities to Southeast Asian students to study for a semester at partner Southeast Asian universities.

Since the first quarter of the year, students from UAD’s partner universities from the Philippines, and Thailand came to UAD. Coordinated by the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of UAD, They conducted an internship at UAD’s partner schools. At schools, they got teaching experiences, class observation, and supervision.

During their stay, accompanied by international buddies, they also will have an excursion to historical places. On 7 November, for the third time, UAD welcomed Sea Teacher program students from Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University (VRU), Thailand. They have been scheduled to teach at SD Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 3 Yogyakarta for a month.

Muhammad Sayuti, S.Pd., M.Pd., M.Ed., Ph.D. (The Dean of FKIP) delivered his support during the opening ceremony. He stated, “This program opened vast cooperation among UAD and Southeast Asian universities and embraced friendship among the students.”

UAD Conducted a Welcoming and Introduction to Campus Life Ceremony for International Students

International Students of UAD

Since the international border opened in 2022, international students gradually come to attend offline classes. This semester 56 international students from varied countries and programs came. It has been numerous although the Covid has just ended.

International Students of UAD

Six Darmasiswa students are from Egypt, Sudan, and China. One Chinese student is registered to study the Indonesian Language for Foreigners. A Yemeni student studies Industrial Technology Department under the scholarship cooperation of the Yemen Embassy and UAD. Ten students under Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS), four Republic of Korean students from Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS) study Indonesian Literature, four Malaysian students from Universiti of Malaya (UM) study Arabic Language and Literature, and two students from Universiti Malaysia Pahang study chemical engineering.

Thirteen students from Capiez State University, Iloilo State University of Fisheries and Technology, and the University of Saint Anthony, the Philippines cooperated with the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education to participate in the Sea-teacher program. Two students from Thailand and Timor Leste are studying under a UAD scholarship. The Thai student studies English Education, and the Timor Leste student studies Vocational Education for Automotive Technology. Five students including two students from Bangladesh, one from Myanmar, one from India, one from Malaysia, and one from Vietnam participated in the short course program. One graduate student from China. Sixteen students from Guangxi University of Foreign Languages (GUFL), one of UAD’s partners in China. Six of them study International Credit Transfer (3+1) and others attend Joint Degree Program.

On 12th September, local students and some international students participated in the Introduction to Campus Life Program (P2K) conducted by the Student and Alumni Bureau (BIMAWA UAD) at the Yogya Expo Center. The international students wore their traditional costumes during this opportunity and met with the lecturers and local students.

Located at the Islamic Center, on 14th September, Ahmad Dahlan Global Engagement for the first time after the Pandemic of Covid-19 conducted a Welcoming and Introduction to Campus Life for 56 International Students. This ceremony was officially opened by Ida Puspita, M.A., Res. (Head of International Partnership), and followed by speeches by Ulaya Ahdiani, S.S, M.Hum. (Head of Ahmad Dahlan Global Engagement).

Ihsan Joana Sudrajat, S.Tr.Im. (Representative of Immigration Yogyakarta) delivered information on Immigration Procedures in Indonesia. After that, Dr. Mhd. Lailan Arqam, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Head of Education of Islamic Studies Development Institute) introduced Manners and Politeness in Indonesia, especially at UAD as one of the Islamic Universities under the Muhammadiyah Central Board.

International Students of UAD

After that, Ida Puspita, S.S. M.A.,Res. delivered Cross-Cultural Understanding as international students in Indonesia. Intan Rawit Sapanti, S.Pd., M.A, Head of the Indonesian Literature Department, which has the highest number of international students gave a presentation on Academic Processes. Last but not least, Asrikah Puji Lestari, M.Pd (staff of Academic and Administration Bureau) delivered information on the international students’ admission process.

UAD Welcomed Sea-Teacher Students from Two Partner Universities in the Philippines

Sea-teacher UAD

On the 4th of September Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of UAD welcomed 9 students from the University of Saint Anthony (USANT) and the Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST), the Philippines under the Sea-Teacher Program.

Sea Teacher or Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia gives opportunities to university students of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) to practice teaching at overseas schools for a month. Three students from USANT and six students from ISUFST were scheduled to teach at partner schools of UAD in Yogyakarta. Trixia May O. Elevado, and Mary Joy E. Gepitulan from USANT teach at SMP Muhammadiyah Sewon. Edward Paul D. Castro (USANT) and Chlyredth B. Casaldan (ISUFST) teach at SMP Muhammadiyah Unggulan Aisyah. Julius B. Maglasang and Kristoffer Rhys H. Grabato from ISUFST teach at SMP Muhammadiyah Bantul. Angel Faith A. Sojon and Kate Concepcion C. Benagua from ISUFST teach at SD Unggulan Aisyah, and Sheena Marie S. Detore (ISUFST) teach at SD Muhammadiyah Bantul.

Sea-teacher UAD

This program was the second batch of offline Sea Teachers this year, in May UAD also welcomed four students from the Capiz State University (CAPSU), the Philippines. They had teaching experiences at SD Muhammadiyah Karangkajen, dan SMP Muhammadiyah. On 12 August, UAD sent ten students of FKIP to gain overseas teaching experiences at CAPSU, ISUFT, and West Virginia University of the Philippines, and at Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University (VRU), Thailand.

During the welcoming ceremony, Rusydi Umar, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. (Vice Rector of Academic Affairs), Muhammad Sayuti, S.Pd., M.Pd., M.Ed., Ph.D. (Dean of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education), dan Dr. Sunny (Dean of Faulty of Education of ISUFST ) officially delivered their support on this program. Furthermore, both deans signed an MoA between the two faculties. Dr. Ani Susanti, M.Pd.B.I. (Vice-dean for Human Resources, Finance, Property, and General Administration), Ulaya Ahdiani, S.S., Hum.
